CityTime Alarms - Beta Testers Wanted...

izzyK,

You are experiencing exactly the same as I am.  I also have C500.

One thing in addition to that of your comments that I have noticed with mine is that when I set a test alarm for say 2 minutes and save it the screen goes back to the time and the alarm display is showing a count down, i,e, 20 seconds till the alarm sounds.

When I set it for 7am tomorrow and save it just says alarm set for 7 and no countdown.

I don't know if this is a problem as it possibly only shows a countdown when it is x amound of minutes or seconds away from sounding.

All alarms will display the count down from 5 minutes before to an indeterminate time after the alarm sounds if not dismissed. The real problem is that the alarm is just not going off...

Kenny,

Do you have any ideas why we are experencing this problems?  Can you reproduce them?

I've very infrequently been able to reproduce the problem (actually only once), and I couldn't see what the problem was, HOWEVER, I think I have a line on the problem and will put out a fix this evening that MAY address the problem. I will overcome! :x

Also, do you have a resolution for the xbar and file manager digit font problem?
Both XBar and DeveloperOne are putting out new versions to deal with the problem. I tried to make some changes to get around their bugs, but it amounts to them not handling a second font installed. Hopefully a file explorer patch can be gotten, who made that program anyway? The other developers I have contacted already...

Oh and just one more thing, will this application expire as it shows in the about screen in 15 days? If so how can I get an extended version of the beta?

It will expire, but I will put out an update before it does, or send out registration codes...

Thanks

Mark

p.s.  Excellent app- I do love it and waking up to the Son of the Preacher Man is great each morning.

Thank you! Sorry to stretch this out for so long...

Kenny.

Which file manager has the problem? I've not seen it on File Explorer (built-in) or Binary's SmartExplorer.

This app is exactly what I have been looking for. I downloaded a few days ago and so far it is working well. I will keep trying to mess it up. ^_^ I travel regularly for business and this app looks like it will be a must. Keep up the great work.

Kennyg / Fozzie,

The file manager that I am using is the one built in to the C500 "File Manager", however I must say that I haven't experienced the font problem with this app for a few days now but do still get the problem in xBar.

Also, same happened again last night & this morning, i.e. the alarm tested fine last night. I managed to set the alarm 4 times and it went off everytime, however my 7am call this morning didn't go off.

The only other thing I can say is that basically it seems to be the alarms that are set for only a few minutes in the future work without problem and that the ones that are scheduled approx 8 hours later dont work.

If its of any use, I do automatically lock my device after 2 minutes so this would be active in the morning when the alarm tries to sound.

Thanks

Mark

Hello All,

Anyone experiencing problems with their alarms not going off, please drop me an email. I have a new EXE file for you to try out. This is limited to those of you with Windows Mobile 2003, as it will not work with 2002 at this moment. I've been running this version since yesterday and think I may have found the problem, but want a little verification before I send out a broader update.

Thanks,

Kenny.

Kenny,

I can't work out how to send you an email :? I need the new exe, though the alarm did work this morning.

Thanks,

Isabelle

Alarm went off fine this morning, with the new .exe, but, the snooze didn't work. Hit snooze, the app went away but the alarm didn't sound later. Opened the app and the alarm was red and counting up from the time that the snooze should have sounded.

Kennyg,

I'm afraid the experience with the new exe wasn't any different for me. It went off fine yesterday evening when setting for between 5 and 30 mins in the future, however it didn't sounds this morning at 7am, however the LED display was red.

Thanks

Kenny,

I know there are a couple of font issue fixes mentioned in this thread, but here's what I had to do. I renamed ZLCD.TTF, removing the .TTF. This makes CityTime Alarms run with the nina font--it's not as intended but it looks fine. This enables Opera to run without the LCD font.

For some reason, I couldn't delete ZLCD.TFF, nor could I copy nina.ttf from the windows folder to the StorageWindowsFonts folder. I guess that's a different issue!

Hi, Kenny. I also have the latest beta and the alarm does not sound when I set it. I have the new MPX220 from Motorola if that helps. I also could not figure out how to email you. Please let me know where I can find the new .exe so I can give that a try.

Kenny,

Thanks for the new exe. I installed it on Thursday night and the alarm worked fine on Friday morning. I didn't use it over the weekend and it should have gone off this morning (monday) but didn't. I don't usually ever switch the phone off, but last week after switching it off and on again the alarm started working again.

I have a C500.

Thanks,

Isabelle

Since putting on the new .exe, I deleted my alarms and re-created them. This morning's went off fine and snoozed fine too. Will see how it goes over the next couple of days.

A restart of my C500 before going to bed and making sure the alarm is set seems to do the trick.

Are you any closer to having the version with the loggin on to help debug?

Regards

Mark

I've just posted Beta 8 ( last one please! )

You can find the links anywhere in this forum or at http://www.codecity.net under Smartphone OS CityTime Alarms.

Let me know if you have ANY issues. I've tested it successfully and I think I finally found the bug that would cause alarms not to get set in some cases. Also I fixed the issue in lists (especially the city list) where the ABC search did not work.
