warranty issue of my xphone

My xphone joystick suddenly cannot function properly 2 days ago, when I press right, it will go up. Thinking to send it to service center but o2 website clearly state that flashing other than o2 rom will void the phone warranty. But I had flashed it with orange, imate & o2 chinese rom. Would like to know if I flash it to O2 english rom before I send it to service center, will they know it?

For your info, my xphone is 2nd hand set(original with receipt), bought in Singapore.

The ROM updates wipes out all previous history so there will be no trace of what the previous versions were stored on your phone.
