MPX220 Radio Stack and Vodafone Sweden

Got my new MPX220 about 3 weeks ago and i was really excited at first until i put in my Vodafone SIM card...mmm well no GPRS.

Finally after much hassling the carrier, i got some info advising that they had just completed a EPLMN upgrade to their network. The purpose of this update is to make handover of calls between 2G and 3G common national network work well and according to standard (3GPP).

So now i have them hassling Motorola for a new version of their Radio Stack that will support this standard. This is also effecting the MPX200 and the Qtek1010(New update now to fix the 1010 is just out) and the 7070 (There is an update for the 7070)

Apparently all manufactures have been aware of this standard, but not all provisioned their radio stack version on all devices to meet the standard.

So i am pretty down about the whole situation at the moment ^_^

Don't know if this will effect any other european carriers in the future
