Thanks for that spvdk - I've just tried it and finally got the hang of copy and paste :D

I just uninstalled, emptied the folder, reinstalled, but the links to the SelectAll etc are still duff (although they do work)

But I can't work out the "Shift" copy... Can you explain again?

I'm doing:

Action

Scroll up, select "Shift" link

Highlight text

Action

Select other app (New SMS)

Action

Scroll up, select "Paste" link

But what I get is what I had highlighted in the attempt prior to doing the Shift copy

chucky.egg,

I can't quite figure out why it won't work for you. I just did exactly what you described and it worked for me. I copied a bit of text from SmartphoneNotes to a new SMS no problems... :?:

I think something is going wrong with the Clipboard (or the way I use it)

Can you try something?

I was copying from Orneta Notepad.

If you select everything in a document there, and copy it to a new SMS it works, but if you then go back an just try to copy a selection with the Shift function it doesn't work - it still pastes back the full text that you copied earlier.

Can anyone else recreate that?

Just tried it and it works as it should. Select all copied the lot. Shift copied the bit I selected and both pasted into an SMS as they should.

Have you tried rebooting then trying again?

Hmm, yeah, but thanks for trying it

I'll start again from scratch, because after a few uses of xBar my phone appears to be slowing down noticably.

This is not good... I was typing a SMS, when I needed to enter a new word into the T9 dictionary. Confident that the Action key bug was fixed, I hit 'Add word' and guess what? It isn't fixed! As usual I wasn't allowed to add my own word, instead the T9 garbled word was added. Cute...

So... I edited the xBar .ini and moved the call procedure from the Action key to Record. Sigh... And as if this wasn't enough, now my copy/shift/paste function is totally screwed up! When I use the 'Shift' shortcut, I am able to highlight as before, but upon hitting the Action key, the text is cut instead of copied, and the remaining part of the text is moved down one line.

Enough for you, or do you want more? Ok. When entering the Shift mode and hitting the Action key, the Power button and both soft keys are disabled too. All I can do is to pull the battery.

I have tried editing the 'CALLBUG=1; // Fix windows call bug (action key) only if hotkey=13' in the .ini to a '0', but that changes nothing.

I certainly hope the memory leak bug has been fixed, because right now everything else looks awful. I really hope I am mistaken and I will investigate further, but it doesn't look good. If only we had a manual, then at least we would know how this is supposed to function...

My phone has crashed / slowed down to a halt a few times since I upgraded to 2.5. I hope the author is monitoring this forum and might come up with a fix soon...

ahhh... maybe that's why I can't get the shift copy to work! I have Xbar mapped to the record button on my Typhoon instead of the action key (the action key causes problems in Echo voice recorder). In my experience you don't have to pull the battery though... Just call Xbar again and hit the volume up (or down... or both... I can't remember). In any case just try one and see if it helps, if not then try the other...

I just sent xetra an email about these issues and a link to this thread....

I can't get the shift copy to work anymore with 2.5 on my Audiovox.... Anyone get this to work? I can do a shift and highlight text, but then I can't have it copy the text, it just remains as shift is being held down...

Hi

in fact the correct method is :

when highlight text, just press xbar key once to copy text.

and you can after, select paste to paste text.

hi again

i'm working on the next release 2.6

please send me by email (xbarsupport at xetranet com) all your request, i will be happy to include it in the 2.6.

The 2.6 will be compatible with pocket PC.

to test on c500 i need some beta tester, so you're welcome :D

- test tenth temp

- test t9 issue

- test shift emulation

- and other you want.

David

oups

you can't turn off shift emulation by the record key

so simply use this macro

ununzip it and copy it under xbar2\start folder

or make shortcut to any key you want

I mean If I wanna disable actions key,, which version should I use? thankz

Just found that, in Ilium NewsBreak, if you switch back to the app using xBar AND your Action key is the scroller/joystick you lose control of the scrolling list of newsfeeds.

If you change the Action key to something else (e.g. # which is 120) it works as intended.

So whilst v2.5 may fix the T9-add-a-new-word bug, it seems to still be affecting other things. [He says... guessing wildly at the actual cause!]

Not sure what you mean...

If you want to use a different key to trigger xBar then you change it in xbar_cfg.ini (I'm using 120 again now, which is the # key)

If you mean you WANT to have xBar interfere with other applications using the Action key then 2.5 still does it I think!

chucky.egg,

Sorry to say, but the 'Add Word' bug haven't been fixed yet. Even though it only happens once in a while, it still happens. I am rather active on sms, so I know... :D

Btw you get into trouble if you assign the # key to launch xBar, because then there's no way to access the T9 options. All keys on the front of the C500 are used for other options, so only the 'Volume Up' button is expendable, to me at least. But since that key is placed in an unhandy position, we really need the Action key to be working.

I have offered the developer to test beta builds and I will do my best to be part of getting this thing working. xBar is a nearly perfect program for a nearly perfect phone. When the last problems has been ironed out, I can't imagine any SPV owner not wanting this great piece of software :D

Yeah, it is invaluable, and the FIRST bit of software I bought for my new phone

Now that I know it was xBar causing the T9 bug I don't want to go back to 2.4 (I haven't found the same problem in 2.5 so far), but I was disappointed to see the same type of problem still there in 2.5

Hoping for a fix soon...

The T9 word adding problem definitely still exisits when using 2.5; I don't know that it is xBar causing it though as I haven't tried using my C500 without xBar running as it's far too useful!

Ditto

I don't mean to sound luck a grumpy old git, the T9 bug was really annoying me before I knew it was xBar, but even now I wouldn't contemplate removing it.

Personally I don't know why they bundle Caller Photo ID (no use to me at all) and not xBar with these phones

Something I hadn't noticed before...

Without xBar loaded, if your in PIE and you press and hold "Back" it takes you back to the previous app. That's useful because if you press "Back" briefly it takes you back to the previous page you were looking at in PIE. Do the same thing with xBar loaded and it doesn't do anything.

I discovered that while testing NewsBreak for a few days, and whilst I like it, it isn't compatible with xBar (at least not the way I tend to use the phone)

I must admit that I'm wondering how many other "issues" i've put down to poor apps have actually been caused by xBar.

Are there any alternatives to xBar?

Anything else that would let me jump straight to the app I want, rather than cycling through them?

Good question. I don't believe there is an alternative, though, but let's hear it if there is.

I think the big problem here is that most buttons on these smartphones are double booked, making it very hard indeed to pull more functions out of them. Especially if several apps are trying at the same time! :|

Unless you have changed the key mapping, the Back key kills the current app in xBar.

I have been using NewsBreak, and like it, and have noticed some issues with xBar running too. I don't know if it will stop me from using either app though.
