Guest nigels Posted December 12, 2004 Report Posted December 12, 2004 Got it back this morning too. Looks brand new and they didn't flash it (which saves me a lot of trouble ). Great stuff UPDATE I am very sad to say, that after all that, I have noticed dust back under the screen. That is after 2 repairs. I guess the repair just doesnt work. I will tell HTC tomorrow... but will not send it back and be without it for yet another week. Time for an early upgrade - how very sad.
Guest Pagemakers Posted December 12, 2004 Report Posted December 12, 2004 Anybody with a SP3i? Does that suffer the dust problem?
Guest PatrickMalone Posted December 12, 2004 Report Posted December 12, 2004 That site just won't work for me... Does anyone have an e-mail address @htceurope I can use? Thanks, Patrick
Guest Martijn© Posted December 15, 2004 Report Posted December 15, 2004 Good people of MoDaCo, I got some questions about the dust repair service; -Does anyone know if this service also is available for the Netherlands? (I know the service is from HTC-Europe so I guess it is the same address you mail your phones at, but just checking because I really hope that they sent me my phone back to the Netherlands when it’s fixed;)) .......................... ELDano That's what I like to know also....because when I go to www.htceurope.com & I enter the serialnumber on my i-mate SP3 Is that because it's not a Orange C500 ? It's still the same phone, also made by HTC I think ...... :?:
Guest chucky.egg Posted March 7, 2005 Report Posted March 7, 2005 @Martijn Are you putting in the serial number (not the IMEI number)? I made that mistake several times before I realised what I was doing I've noticed something odd with my repair: 02/03/2005 10:25:06 RECEIVED 02/03/2005 10:25:06 ON-HOLD 03/03/2005 13:41:56 OFF-HOLD 04/03/2005 10:16:34 REPAIRING 04/03/2005 10:17:25 REPAIRED 04/03/2005 14:58:29 FT_PASS 07/03/2005 11:03:56 PACKED 07/03/2005 15:58:30 SHIPPED Repairing only took 50 seconds... eh? Guest Jamma14 Posted August 3, 2005 Report Posted August 3, 2005 Anybody with a SP3i? Does that suffer the dust problem? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I've had an SP3i for a couple of months and have not noticed a single spec of dust under the screen.
Guest PPCPassion Posted August 3, 2005 Report Posted August 3, 2005 Just a update I contacted Audiovox and this was the responce. Please call us at 1 (800) 229-1235 and speak with a rep from our Warranty Department if you would like to send the phone to us to be serviced, and get an RMA. You will need to ask a rep from that dept. how long this will take. We will repair the unit you send us, and return it to you when the repair/service is completed. This is not a "known" or "documented" issue with the SMT-5600. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Have you decided to send it to Audiovox? I am in the same boat. I guess there are few of us using Audiovox in USA as compare to UK, so I am not sure how Audiovox will respond to repair reuest esp. if its not a "known" issue? Please keep us posted. BTW, is your Audiovox unlocked?? Thanks

When i contacter Audiovox in the states, they refered my to their repair center in Ontario, ask me 25$ fee service to have it "cleaned" the issue is apparently unknown to them. they also told me of a service center in my hometown that could do the same for 40$ as a authorised dealer... i may go there and have it fixed, then i will do the seal myself, i just don'T want to void my garantie and remove the sealed sticker myself
Guest bills1974 Posted August 3, 2005 Report Posted August 3, 2005 I've had an SMT 5600 for 2-3 weeks now and I'm getting two bubbles of dust coming in from the left side of the screen right in the middle. I'm probably going to give the Cingular warranty department a call, has anyone else tried this route?

Here is a copy of response I recd from Audiovox: --------------------------------------------------------------- Response (OVELEZ) - 08/03/2005 04:34 PM -Hi If you feel that the phone or an accessory is defective, or not functioning properly, I suggest sending the phone in for an evaluation and/ or repair. Cellular phones, cordless phones, and accessories come with a 12-month warranty. Batteries carry a 1 year warranty. However, the warranty does not cover physical abuse, alterations or liquid damage. Please mail the complete unit to: UTStarcom/Audiovox 555 Wireless Blvd. Hauppauge, NY 11788 Attn. Warranty Dept. Please include proof of purchase(Vendor invoice indicating store/vendor number and date of purchase), your name, address, daytime phone number, and a detailed note describing the problem. So I guess buying from eBay and on top of that "altering" the phone by getting it unlocked voids the warranty. However, if someone actually bought from Cingulair or ATT, they may benefit from this info..
Guest sikhcentral Posted August 22, 2005 Report Posted August 22, 2005 hi ok i just need some help before i send off my c500, as it has got loads of dust and the ir dnt work and the screen randonly turns off. I would like to know: -Should i hard reset the phone before sending 2 get rid of any software which HTC could deem illegal? -Should i simlock the phone so only orange sims will work otherwise HTC might void the warranty? -If HTC update the phone to the latest ROM 4.2.1.1 will i b able to sim unlock it again to use O2? Thx for the advise!!!!!!!!!!!!
Guest Griff_FFOC Posted August 23, 2005 Report Posted August 23, 2005 I just booked my C500 in to get the dust issue sorted, and they quoted £28.50 for a refurb. So am not bothering with that at that price. I'll let you guys know how I get on.

If they update the rom the phone will remain sim-unlocked, don't worry.
Guest sikhcentral Posted August 26, 2005 Report Posted August 26, 2005 OK thx for that i sent off my phone a couple of days ago HTC have received and repaired it: 25/08/2005 14:12:44 RECEIVED 25/08/2005 20:57:30 REPAIRING 25/08/2005 21:01:39 REPAIRED so far so good :)
Guest Griff_FFOC Posted August 26, 2005 Report Posted August 26, 2005 Does the status change to something else after "Repaired"? Mine has said repaired since 11:22am yesterday. Guest sahins Posted August 27, 2005 Report Posted August 27, 2005 Just to let everyone know, I have 2 SPV C500's that were over 11 mths old. Lodged a call with http://www.htceurope.com/ to get the sticking joystick on one fixed and a load of screen dust on the other. Both phones and some cosmetic damage (one had a dent in the silver trim, the other had scratches across the Orange logo, and on both th silver was coming off the keypad). Sent them to HTC insured for £4.75 and got them back yesterday (8 days later). Phone service is a bit rank as they have an answering service but they never return your calls! HTC replaced the front covers on both and the faults as well. They day in their terms & conditions that they would update the firmware to the latest but they didn't (just finished doing this and it works great - takes about 10 mins and you get Windows Media Player 10). You can get the 4.2.1.1 firmware from http://www2.orange.co.uk/servlet/Satellite...=Product#answer
Guest sahins Posted August 27, 2005 Report Posted August 27, 2005 The status should change to FT_PASSand it will stay like that for about 4 days! After that they emailed me to say that CityLink Couriers were delivering it and they gave me a tracking ID for the couriers website.
Guest sikhcentral Posted August 29, 2005 Report Posted August 29, 2005 4 DAYS!! I cant believe how much i miss the phone i guess i'll have 2 wait doh

Guest Griff_FFOC Posted September 1, 2005 Report Posted September 1, 2005 (edited) I was meant to get mine back yesterday, according to their e-mail, but didn't receive it til today. The dust appears to have been cleaned out so happy on that scene, so far. However, my old texts and call history are still there, as well as the bluetooth name, so they haven't reflashed the phone as mentioned though. One strange thing though, all my sound profiles were set back to default. :??: Not a problem I guess but was hoping they would so I can see if the answer phone bug was sorted. Guess i'll have to edit the registry for that one. Edited September 1, 2005 by Griff_FFOC
