Guest ppcmd Posted January 18, 2005 Report Posted January 18, 2005 I recall that Theme Changer 4.0 supported themes on the miniSD card. If so where do we put the themes so it will find them? Thanks.
Guest sugardad Posted January 18, 2005 Report Posted January 18, 2005 The Location you're asking points to: \Storage Card\Appication Data\Home
Guest ppcmd Posted January 22, 2005 Report Posted January 22, 2005 Not sure why but I don't have \Storage Card\Appication Data\Home on my MPx220. I created a path by adding the necessary folders to my Storage Card calling them Appication Data then Home but no go. WHat did I miss?
Guest sugardad Posted January 22, 2005 Report Posted January 22, 2005 Nope It's OK! If you have created a folder @ storage card \Application Data\Home then If you have Theme Manager, Theme Manager will search *also* this path for any home themes
Guest Tomas Kocanda Posted January 23, 2005 Report Posted January 23, 2005 It works ok on my Qtek (c500) but: - after restart it always report problem that is not possible to load software "theme changer" etc... - when I try to go in the "sounds" menu it straight crash every time (I use sounds on the card using RJV RegTweaks UI) Any ideas?
Guest g4mb17 Posted January 23, 2005 Report Posted January 23, 2005 Tomas, can i get you to try a debug version and send me though a log? I have to change it though, your tip about using sounds on the Storage Card might be the cause of this bug (it's been reported before - but i could never reproduce it) riki
Guest MoRFLeZ Posted January 23, 2005 Report Posted January 23, 2005 I keep forgetting .. but when I install Theme Changer on my Danish SPV C500 - it comes up with the "don't know vendor error" ... and wants me to e-mail you a txt file! Not near a computer now, so I can't reinstall the program to figure out where the file is .. looked everywhere, but the right place.
Guest sugardad Posted January 23, 2005 Report Posted January 23, 2005 (edited) I Think that this is not an error, It's the discovery of a brand new world :D Seriously now I think It makes a .txt file listing all the possible "fields" that can be skinned/altered for the specific model I had my old qtek 8080 for a couple of months when suddenly one day after I upgraded my firmware I saw 2 more logos Instead of one (wow), to be more specific I saw the Qtek welcome logo, then vodafone logo and then the place where I bought It logo! shortly after when I started to Install programs and the theme changer I saw this message (not surprised) I started to figure this out by peeking at the log fie also Inside the log the model of my 8080 was listed as Qtek N5 Edited January 23, 2005 by sugardad
Guest g4mb17 Posted January 24, 2005 Report Posted January 24, 2005 (edited) sugadad, you've hit it on the nail there. when you apply a theme that doesn't have system screens themechanger tries to reset the system screens to defaults, but it has to know what they are first, as carriers change them! So when it meets defaults it hasn't seen it pops up a message asking you to send 'em in so i can add them. RIGHT EVERYONE WHO HAS ISSUES WITH THE SOUND DIALOG, can you please download this: and put it on your phone (sorry no installer) then try and load the sounds dialog. when it crashes (or what ever it does) send me the file ThemeChanger.log in the root directory of your phone. something like \My Windows Mobile Device\ThemeChanger.log (well thats ActiveSync 4 - so your milage may vary) I want to fix this issue once and for all! and release version 4.1. I also have two translations I have to do as well. riki Edited January 27, 2005 by g4mb17

Guest tSlipAE86 Posted January 24, 2005 Report Posted January 24, 2005 Hey i just noticed you were viewign this thread.. where did ya go? anyway i just installed your software and i got the Info error, Your phone appears to have some branding ThemeChanger hasn't seen, please send the file '\temp\Audioxov_SMT_5600.txt' to [email protected] so it can be added. Im getting ready to email that to ya now.. How common is this issue? // Mod Edit: Changed the e-mail addy
Guest g4mb17 Posted January 25, 2005 Report Posted January 25, 2005 (edited) commonish, when i've added all the phones it should stop happening, but it's not to uncommon, the program works fine if you ignore it. Tomas, i thought i had it, but it doesn't look like it :-(. I'll try some experiments and see what i come up with. riki Edited January 27, 2005 by g4mb17

Guest ppcmd Posted January 25, 2005 Report Posted January 25, 2005 (edited) I am still new and learning as much as possible with WMSP but man its tough compared to WMPC. The various file types of homescreens makes it even more difficult. I would like to have all of my home screens on my miniSD and run them with ThemeChanger. What file types will ThemeChanger recognize and why doesn't it recognize any files that I have in StorageCard\ApplicationData/Home I must be doing something wrong, is it a regedit I need or something else? The three file types I have are .cab, xml and SmartPhone2002 Theme File. Thanks. Edited January 25, 2005 by ppcmd

Thanks. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> SmartPhone Homescreen Installation cabinets are commonly files with extension .cab and .hme these files MUST be executed by a file manager In order to be Installed to your device but they MUSN'T be placed @ Storage Card\Application Data\Home or @ Storage\Application Data\Home because none of them will either work or identified by any theme manager  simple home screens consist of an .xml file this file has xml code (relative to html) this file Instructs your smartphone what to show to your screen and has links to .jpg, .gif for a beautiful visual effect and also contains code and links to external plugins (rjhtml, lcdplug, etc) that utilizes for grater usability these files are commonly placed ONLY @ Storage Card\Application Data\Home or @ Storage\Application Data\Home  You can try to move your .jpg, .gif files and .xml files from Storage\Application Data\Home to Storage Card\Application Data\Home BUT not the .dll files that may reside inside the directory It's also wise not to move home screens that utilize the rjhtml plugin
Guest g4mb17 Posted January 26, 2005 Report Posted January 26, 2005 I Had Absolutely NO Problem and NO crash with the Debug Version Model tested: Qtek 8020 hmmm interesting. well that wasn't suppose to happen, oh well. I'll try and do another test version tomorrow night, if thats a go, then i'll call it fixed. riki
Guest g4mb17 Posted January 27, 2005 Report Posted January 27, 2005 sugardad, (or anyone else having issues with the sounds dialog) can you try this: Debug version 2 Its just a release version of the last (debug) version you tried with logging in, it's just to make sure it wasn't a fluke before. unfortunatly I'm at a conference this weekend, so 4.1 is going to have to wait a little longer :-( thanks, riki
Guest lukeap69 Posted January 27, 2005 Report Posted January 27, 2005 hi riki, i don't know if this has got to do with theme changer. when i am using other themes, favorites on pocket IE won't show up. then when i change my theme back to basic layout, the favorites are shown. any ideas? regards, lukeap 69 :-k
Guest ppcmd Posted January 28, 2005 Report Posted January 28, 2005 sugardad, thank you for the info. I added that to my growing FAQ. Bottom line is if its .xml it can go there otherwise I need to use my file mgr to locate and launch. I could then copy and paste to that directory. Cool.
Guest sugardad Posted January 28, 2005 Report Posted January 28, 2005 ppcmd I'm glad I could help you! :D lukeap69 I had a Qtek 8080 with TC 3.x and TC 4.0 and had no similar problem Now I got a Qtek 8020 with TC 4.0 again I face no similar problem BUT I have seen this happening when I was using themes that used to "paint" letters with white colour, the letters wouldn't show up! have you tried with another theme e.g. Midnight's Modaco or MSN Just to be sure?
Guest Tomas Kocanda Posted January 28, 2005 Report Posted January 28, 2005 Just a stupid question - would be possible to do let say one "loop" of homescreen backgrounds in certain timeframe (like work hours backgrounds), while in other time (evening) run "private" homescreens loop? It would be great.
Guest sugardad Posted January 28, 2005 Report Posted January 28, 2005 (edited) I want to ask some more thingies that has to do with this and the next version One. Theme Changer has Issues with themes @ storage card To be more specific I mean Themes that have skinned xtra-screens and are placed to storage card e.g. If a theme has It's menu skinned and/or startup shutdown screens/Information screens These will be preserved while the phone's online and will also show the shutdown logo of the current screen When you shut It down NOW After you switch off the phone and turn It back on the phone just won't display none of these! The main screen Is blank and also will all the other themed screens! :) BUT If the theme Is placed @ the main storage the theme will work flawlessly :D ALSO Even If the theme is placed @storage card and the Theme Manager creates (manually) a .txt file after the reboot It still won't display the theme correctly Can't that be Fixed? (Is there a limitation with the OS that upon reboot It checks ONLY the main storage and NOT the storage card Isn't there a Registry workaround Can't you build a startup daemon that will check the current theme and apply It during Bootup or something like that?) Two. Creating the Theme Manager assisting .txt files Incorporates that the user will manually do this by either selecting the option save theme manually or If the Manager Itself (sometimes when the theme is altered) asks for It. Can't theme manager analyze the .xml upon selection/apply and automatically save the respective .txt file upon creation every time the heme is selected/applied It can then check to see if the corresponding .txt exists and skip the creation except If the user has altered It and so the user MUST select the save theme action Manually Three As I have proposed and you have responded that you'll put that on your list the ability (xtra menu?) to let the user customely choose which picture to place for each event (yell, incall, alert, startup, etc) rather than using theme's specific will you do that really? Four. Why Don't you add a PayPal Icon to your site for Software Donation I know many people that would do that (I'm one) :D :D :P for you and your superb creation! Five. I'm checking now the Debug v2 Checked! I Hope that I didn't gave you a headache and that my feedback Is somewhat helpful :D =D> Keep It up riki! 8) Edited February 7, 2005 by sugardad
