Guest i_oWn_u Posted January 22, 2005 Report Posted January 22, 2005 Speaking of a c500 kinda off the subject but c500 is=audiovox smt 5600 right?
Guest Confucious Posted January 22, 2005 Report Posted January 22, 2005 c500, smt5600, sp3, qtec 8010 and others are all the HTC Typhoon just sold by different people and rebranded with their own firmware. What's with Bold Blue and largefonts?
Guest TKJ Posted January 22, 2005 Report Posted January 22, 2005 I've had sporadic success with this... I just tried setting POP3 access to GMail up on my phone for the third time and it actually worked. I received mail and successfully sent a message. That was the end of my success... Every time I try to Send/Receive I get the "Network Coverage/Account Information" error message... Is this working every time for people? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> No :| I think it is getting better, now it works almost every time :D I get the message: SSL couldn't be established (Or something like that) a lot when I try to send an email. The thing is, I don't need SSL for sending an email.. So I have to go into pop3 settings and uncheck SSL before sending the message, then there is no problem. It is also annoying that you can't download all of your old messages with gmail. It is possible with almost any other pop3 mail.. It doesn't matter what you choose, the result is always that you can get new messages, but at the same time all old/read messages are deleted. If this works for anyone, please let me know how you did  TKJ
Guest simon211175 Posted February 14, 2005 Report Posted February 14, 2005 When I got my SPV C500 last week, I set up gmail no problem, and it was working fine with my Orange Sim card. Now, I've unlocked the phone, so I can use my O2 sim from my previous phone, and do you think I can get gmail to work? No I cannot. Perhaps access is restricted on certain networks?
Guest Carzzzer Posted February 17, 2005 Report Posted February 17, 2005 Using Orange SPV C500; I am using my own pop3 account on my domain and I have to use mail.orangenet.dk for the outgoing server, otherwise I can't send.

Guest tsutton Posted February 21, 2005 Report Posted February 21, 2005 Now, it still won't work. You need to connect your phone to your PC and check the Gmail using the ActiveSync passthrough. Once you did that, the phone will complain something about invalid certificate. Just say you want to "continue" and ignore that message. Once you did that, you should be able to download your email. After this is done, from now on you can connect to gmail with GPRS. Does anyone find that you still get the invalid certification after moving away from email to home screen. Then back to email?
Guest GravityArc Posted February 24, 2005 Report Posted February 24, 2005 My problem is odd. I get the "The following errors occurred while sending and receiving mail: An error occurred while downloding messages." However, if I go to gmail.com on my computer and re-select "Enable POP only for mail that arrives from now on" I can do ONE Send/Receive that successfully sends AND receives any mail that has arrived since I re-enabled POP. If I then receive another e-mail at my gmail.com account and try to Send/Receive on my phone, I get the "Error" message and can't get e-mail until I re-select "Enable POP only for mail that arrives from now on". Very strange. My phone is an SMT5600 on Cingular, I have tried with and without the ports specified, and get the same issues. I've power cycled my phone and completely re-created my Gmail setup.
Guest nowimboard Posted April 22, 2005 Report Posted April 22, 2005 Hya guys, I read the thread, was doing everything it said, getting all the same error messages... Than i tried something. I tried setting up a new account in the Outlook folder. I had previously been trying to get it to work in the IMAP4 So if you are having problems, make sure your not setting up a IMAP4!

Guest MTDude Posted May 11, 2005 Report Posted May 11, 2005 Finally, i get it working. You need to use the following config in your gmail settings: pop.gmail.com:995 SSL (checked) smtp.gmail.com:587 (must use port 587. Don't know why) SSL (checked) Username: [email protected] (must use full email address) Password: Now, it still won't work. I don't know why I need to use the passthrough connection first. Maybe the certificate and the smtp port number has something to do with it. I am using Audiovox smt5600 and AT&T network. Hope this help! ;) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Worked like a charm. Thanks for the info. MTDude
