Guest sipper Posted February 14, 2003 Report Posted February 14, 2003 So you ppl want to watch TV rather than spending all your time playing with your SPV or reading the red folders in the MoDaCo forum? How disapppointing - Paul will be upset !! :) Sipper
Guest RCAM Posted February 14, 2003 Report Posted February 14, 2003 (edited) This is one of the coolest things to do with the SPV. Though I don't watch TV if I had this I would :) I hate how I can never find the remote. Make sure we can make and save profiles for different devices within the software please. Being skinable would be neat as well. I would like to be able to name my own buttons as well. If you need any help let me know. I think we are going to have to build an external device to recieave and retransmit the signal. It would not cost much at all. Then we could just use a small battery and attach it to the top of the phone. Or you could just open your phone and replace the IR transmitter. Edited December 8, 2008 by RCAM
Guest RCAM Posted February 15, 2003 Report Posted February 15, 2003 I am having my IR transmitter replaced with a better one that can do long distances. This way I can sit back in my chair and use the SPV as a remote. Maybe someone else could also do this to help themselves out. Its not really that hard at all.
Guest lucky Posted February 15, 2003 Report Posted February 15, 2003 I am begging someone with the skills to port or program, programmable remote softeware. Because . . . my dvd player is region 2 it can be made multi region by beaming a string of hex code to it . . . if you have palm or pocket pc. I dont i have an SPV. please please . . . well you get the idea.
Guest JabbaTheSlut Posted February 21, 2003 Report Posted February 21, 2003 This would be so sweet, just so i could go to the pub with my work mates at lunch, who laughed saying "does it change the channel" and change the channel on the TV, i'm gonna get exploring and researching-if we all try our own methods (give a thousand monkies a typewriter!) it might just come together! Guest vijay555 Posted February 24, 2003 Report Posted February 24, 2003 guys, i don't know if it's in the SPV sdk, but i seem to remember that the pockpc sdk had an example of an ir chat program. Maybe someone could cludge that together, and then we could work from there? Unfortunately i don't have an spv yet, was about to pay up when lost my bottle, then 5 mins later learnt about SPVx... patiently waiting! Anyway, back to business. Has anyone considered using a Resource Editor to hack the IR program from PocketPC? I managed to get one of the old text to speech apps from WinCE working on my pocketpc that way, yum yum, having news/emails/harry potter read to me whilst walking to work. Also, my IPAQ supposedly had crap range IR, but as above, worked from about 2m, which is better than nothing. If we get the program working, than i'm sure we could thrown in a FIR irda or something for greater range. I remember someone hacking the original Palms (i think) to remove the IRDA filter, boosting range by many metres (10m ish) TV Remote (http://www.pdawin.com/tvremote.html) also hacked up a crappy external ir extender/amplifier, which is a possiblilty, or perhaps an expansion port ir might work? finally, what about dremmelling the Camera and sticking an IR in there, and interfacing through the expansion port? Ok, brainstorming: back to the real world... Vijay
Guest WillEastbury Posted February 27, 2003 Report Posted February 27, 2003 can i be a beta tester?? :) Meeeee too please !
Guest Blootor Posted March 4, 2003 Report Posted March 4, 2003 Does anyone know of an open source version of one of these remote control programs?
