Upgrading to 2003 - Warranty?

Will i loose my Warranty if i upgrade my MPX 200 to Smartphone 2003 OS ?

If by "upgrading" to WM2003 by flashing the phone, then yes, your warranty will be voided. Unless there was a legal version (which there isn't...or is there?), then you will have to give up the warranty.

I read many posts about wm 2003 on Mpx 200 and i made up my mind not to do it. My phone runs very well with 2002, i can play divx movies and play worms world party. Mp3 ringers won't work anyway so i do what my father allways sais "never touch a running system" ;-)

Amazingly, Divx movies seem to run slower (noticible lag times and dropped frames) under WM2003. I'm not sure if there are any http://www.modaco.com/viewtopic.php?t=7695>Tweaks to help it, but the performance is not really much of an improvement over WM 2002.

It's good that you decided not to do it since there are some issues pertaining to WM 2003. It's too late for me since I don't have a WM 2002 image :)

I don't sure if you are downgraded to 2002 and warranty may be comeback.

i don't know motorola let we upgrade new firmware by we self ? If yes maybe no problem but no it's will not bring warranty back because i think no one have the original firmware that came with phone because it's doesn't have any software to backup it but have only updated firmware.

2003 uses more system memory so running slower is a possibility but I have not noticed a great difference personally.

I was reading the posts and i saw the word flashing. This made me think of my upgrade which didn't work because i didn't know how to flash it. Can somebody please tell me what it means???

Flashing the ROM is just that you are replacing the original ROM with a different version. This can e an upgrade or downgrade.

and their answer is " flashing rom doesnt effect warranty!"

i dont know other countries. ask your local tech. service...

i had warranty work done with 2003 installed. i don't think moto even noticed.

also bought the phone (used) off ebay and they still fixed it for free, no questions asked. i just printed the paypal receipt and sent it with the phone.

this of course may not be your experiance.

The AT&T 2003 ROM which all 2003 ROMS are based on was not released to the general public, it was only given to a lucky few at a convention and not officially released.

So as pzee stated there are no legal roms for the MPX200 for the general public to use.
