Guest mullema Posted January 6, 2005 Report Posted January 6, 2005 anyone know how to send a text message to an email address on the 220? I'm on Cingular's network - I can receive an email via my number and then reply to it and it goes back to the email address but how do I create one from scratch. I tried selecting "Menu - Send Text Message" while I have a contacts email address highlighted and I get an error saying that the feature only works with a phone number. I'm assuming I need to use some sort of gateway number with the actual email address embedded somehow? Thanks, Matt

Guest markphone Posted January 10, 2005 Report Posted January 10, 2005 SMS phone to phone use the phone number, for email you have to do email. from a pc to phone you do the [email protected] from an email client to send a text message to a phone. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Go to new SMS message. Enter 121 in the To: Then in beginning of message body, enter the email address followed by a space, and then your message. For quick entry, create a contact called smsemail and for the number put in 121. If you have only a few people you email, you can enter their email addresses as "quick text" to shorten the typing. Your still limited to short messages using this though, otherwise you need to setup a POP/SMTP account somewhere.
