All the ROM flashes I have ever seen involve the unit resetting into a "Ready For Re-Flashing" mode during which you cant use the phone at all, so dont see how you could activate the ROM upgrade from a storage card. Long Answer: It needs a hardware connection to the device (like a USB cable or cradle) to perform the re-flash because the device is wiped clean during the process. If its wiped clean, the drivers for your WiFi card are wiped as well, thus causing it not to operate, thus meaning your re-flash of the ROM will fail.
