There are threads on this topic already; folk were testing this on the first Smartphone here a couple of years ago. Do a search, IIRC there were results posted in those threads.

i just think that you could set youre email sync to run every hour. if you do it ten times a day then that works out to be 15k per day of traffic. which equates to about 450k per month. if you have data bundles then its piss cheap. why pay 27 quid for this service. if you still have to pay for the download of the mail anyway... dont really see much point in it.

Looking at my last bill, when I had my SPV, I was syncing an IMAP mailbox every two hours. My usage was 3.5 meg and I didn't ever use GPRS for anything else on my old phone, nor did I send a lot of emails.

This would be good for businesses. Anyone that needs prompt notification of email will benefit. On my two hour cycle, you could not have a conversation with someone, or even expect a reply. This is e-mails weak spot, where MSN Messenger, SMS and the like have taken over.

Anyone who's ever owned a Blackberry will be able to tell you the benefits of this. Receiving your email literally seconds after it has been sent can be very advantageous. Of course, different people have different needs. If you don't require the email immediately, then you are better off polling your server...me...I'll probably pay the £27/year...seems like a good deal to me...just my 2 pence worth.
