SMT 5600 on Cingular as a modem

I've tried to use my unlocked SMT5600 as a modem and have been unsuccessful.

It is connected with Cingular and has the $19.99 unlimited data plan.

When I try to connect via GPRS dialing *99# I get an error right after the "Registering on the network..." message.

"Error 734: The PPP link control protocol was terminated."

When trying to connect with my dial-up provider, I get another error.

"Error 678: The remote computer did not respond. For further assistance...."

Any idea what the problems might be guys?

Thanks in advance;

Guillermo

I think the problem is the initialization string.

"4. Go to Start -> Settings -> Control Panel and Choose Phone and Modem options, choose the HTC USB Modem and choose Properties and Advanced. In the initialisation String box use the following:

+cgdcont=1,"IP","orangeinternet","",0,0 "

I'd have to get the equivalent for Cingular Wireless, since I'm not on orange.

Thanks for the link!

Guillermo
