Application to Record Voice Calls

It says in the site that it only works on 2 devices, the WM5 Tornado device from HTC and the Cingular 2125.

Has anyone managed to record phone calls on the Orange SPV C500? The echo application does not seem to work, neither the built-in camera recorder. What am I doing wrong? Thanks.

Michael.

Well it is also working on a Motorola MPX200 with WM5 installed on it. ;-)

Unfortunately I cannot say if it is also working with MPX200 with WM2002 (the regular ROM of MPX200).

I also would appreciate it if there would be any possibility to convert the .rcwv files to more regular file formats like .wav/mp3/ogg.

But otherwise a really fine working app. As soon as it is started and is running in the background every single call is recorded until the app is ended.

bye

This the app to sync/convert and save recorded calls as wavs, from the NOCTUM forum...

Nice app. Works also like a charm.

I think as happy as I am with my MPX200 with WM5 (though there are some issues) my next phone will be the HTC Star Trek which is a clamshell WM5 mobile phone by design and has some processor power to it.

It's a pity that Motorola decided to not develop a decent successor of the mpx200. So in a few months I will most probably get my first non-Motorola handset since 1998.

Isn't the MPX-220 the successor to the mpx-200?

Also, I have an mpx-200 and as a developer, I would love to upgrade it to WM5 to test my apps under a real wm5 device....where did you get the WM5 ROM image from?

tut tut no rom swapping or rom link discussion

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

I am not intending to do something like that.

It is not really difficult to find the ROM if you first go to this page: http://www.google.com

But the batteries are not really running that long with WM5 installed.

Well the MPX220 is the official successor of Motorola for the MPX200 but not really successful ;-)

It's a smaller screen and there is no real improvement concerning the sizes of the handset itself. I mean if they decided on installing a smaller screen than they could have at least build a smaller device around this screen.

And I will not mention the lack of a decent generic ROM for the MPX220. As far as I know there is still no real working ROM for it.

But the HTC Star Trek looks promising. For me it is no longer HelloMoto but SorryMoto

Actually, with the latest ROM, my MPX-220 is working great - no more mic cut-outs, etc.

The screen may be smaller, but it's much brighter then the mpx-200's screen.

In addition, the built-in still/video camera (even if it's not that good, it's still better then nothing), and bluetooth (allowing headsets + GPS) ....it blows away the mpx-200 in capabilities in my opinion. So, really the MPX-200 has only one advantage over the 220, a larger, but dimmer screen.

I'll take the brighter screen, built-in camera, bluetooth and updated OS (with support for separate username/pass for SMTP email), plus .NET app capability over the MPX-200 anyday!

Well has anyone tried this on a C600? Does it work?

a.greig - work like a charm on my c600...

So given earlier posts in this thread from developers stating this is impossible due to hardware design I wonder how it manages to do it? Either there must be some change to the hardware in the C600 or it isn't as impossible as claimed. Pity the current version requires WM5 as it would be nice to try it in the C500/C550

But my complaint is not about the additional features. It is about design. I mean once you decide to built in a smaller screen than why not make also the handset itself smaller so that it doesn't look ridiculously small.

In my humble opinion for good design there is just too much plastic on the upper part of the clamshell and too less screen.

Unfortunately the HTC Star Trek also doesn't look very promising in this point. At least in the pictures I have been able to lay my eyes upon the screen also does look ridiculously small (http://www.mobileblog.it/post/1260/htc-star-trek).

So if I (and I just mean me) do not like the feel and the looks of an handset why should I bother about bluetooth and/or camera? But to be honest the lack of bluetooth is actually one of the two reasons I am looking for a new device. The other one is the low performance of the MPX200 (for latest applications).

Cool, now waiting for a open format app...

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

pmrecorder records in some proprietary .rcwv format. This format is just a regular old .wav file with some metadata in front. Open up the .rcwv file in your favorite hex editor (hexedit) and delete everything in front of the ascii string "RIFF" (no quotes). Save the file and then you can play it in any media player that supports wav.... which I think is all of em :-)

http://vitotechnology.com/en/products/audi...smartphone.html

hope this helps

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Still doesn't work for PocketPC Phones. I still only get outgoing audio on my HTC Universal. Nothing from the other party.

Vitonotes works absolutely great on my Smartphone. Both voicenotes as recording calls work like a charm. Sound quality is good to better and in MP3 or WAV format. Bought the software and well worth the money to me.

Which begs the question...how can I get MS Win 2005 on my Audiovox SMT5600?

search the forum for people that are running WM5 on there SPs track them down and ask them.

but do not post it the rom or ask for the rom in a post.

yea actually, since posting my question I came to understand that there are more problems then its worth. I will just have to upgrade my phone eventually. its a damn shame they are making these $300 phones so disposable...

Recording 2 way phone calls on an HTC Universal (any PPC phone edition device?) is impossible with a software only solution. The hardware is wired such that no cellular audio is ever bubbled up to the OS. This is the case for all three possible voice lines: regular old speaker and mic, wired headset, and bluetooth.

That is what they want you to believe to buy a new phone.

Actually in my opinion it is a software, namely Operating System, issue only. As it is possible to record phone calls with an MPX200 running WM5. But with the same phone on the original WM2002 it is not possible.

Well I do not think that there are any hardware changes just by installing a new OS(WM5).

just my opinion.
