Nokia Handsfree Kits

Ok, I found a handsfree kit from an older Nokia phone (can't remember which phone)

Anyway the kit consits of:

Phone holder (works perfect to hold my c500 on the air vent for tomtom!)

Earpeice handsfree Kit

Speaker/mic handsfree kit.

I only dug the kit out so that I could use the phone holder for my C500, but whilst I was getting that out I noticed the connectors for the hands free kit where exactly the same as the connector on the earphones for the c500.

I plugged the earpeice into my c500 and dialed 150 and I could hear the woman at orang (a little bit quiet but it worked!)

So I thought great the speaker/mic thing should work as well. So I took it out to the car, the speaker is on a cig lighter plug so I pushed that into the cig lighter socket and the green light came on, so I plugged my phone in, but I can't hear anything through the Speaker.

Seems strange that the earpeice one would work but not the other? Can anybody confirm if it should work? Are they wired up the same?? Would it be easy enough to rewire it to work??
