Guest valerebel Posted February 25, 2005 Report Posted February 25, 2005 Hi I've got an Orange branded SPV E200 with the following details: Smartphone 2003: Version 4.20.0 (Build 13288) Radio Version: 1.12.01 ROM Operator: 2.6.1.3 Manufacturer: 1.11.1.4 Microsoft: 4.20.13288.0 Language: 1.11.1.4 I've read that this is not the latest ROM or RADIO version, who can advise me best? My current ORANGE ROM seems to be lacking certain features and does QTEK or IMATE offer a better alternative? I tried to upgrade to an i-Mate ROM using RUUv2.60Inst1.10.15.2_CDL_v1.11.15.32_Ship but I got an error message telling me that my phone was not compatible. HELP Please.......... valerebel :?:
Guest newquay_kev Posted February 28, 2005 Report Posted February 28, 2005 Hi, There is a lot of talk/debate concerning which ROM is best (Orange, I-mate, etc). I personally would advise the latest version of the Orange ROM (operator version 2.7.1.1.) It seems pretty stable and offers significant improvements over previous versions. Click here to get the latest version form Orange. Hope this helps! Kev
Guest valerebel Posted February 28, 2005 Report Posted February 28, 2005 Cheers Kev I have upgraded to this ROM version since the post but I gotta be honest, the Orange ROM sucks. Everything is a tw*t to find. I used to have an Ipaq and is was p*ss easy but the software on the E200 is not the most intuitive. By the way do you know how to install stuff on the blessed thing, 'cos i can't work it out. I just downloaded this CamerAware proggie and I'll be b*ggered if I can install it. Can you help? VALEREBEL
Guest newquay_kev Posted February 28, 2005 Report Posted February 28, 2005 valerebel, Programs will generally come in two flavours, executables or CAB files. If its an executable you simply run it from your pc (with the phone in its cradle and Active Sync on). With CAB files, you can use ActiveSync to copy them to your phone. Copy them to the following location: STORAGE/Windows/Start Menu/Accessories Then go to Accessories from the start menu and run the cab file, which will install the application. To save space you can then remove the cab. With respect to cameraware, I'm assuming you're in possession of a Bluetooth GPS device of some sort? You need to have one for this app to work. Kev
Guest valerebel Posted February 28, 2005 Report Posted February 28, 2005 Thanks Kev Patience is a virtue that I do not possess sometimes. Yes I managed to install but I am looking for a bluetooth GPS for this and TomTom Mobile but I understand that TomTom Mobile is only compatible with TomTom branded BT receivers! True or False? Any ideas? I don't want to buy a different make to find that it don't work. Cheers VALEREBEL :D
Guest newquay_kev Posted March 1, 2005 Report Posted March 1, 2005 I'm not sure about BT compatibilty with TomTom, perhaps someone else can shed some light..??.. Kev
Guest Confused Stu Posted March 1, 2005 Report Posted March 1, 2005 I've read elsewhere that TomTom software only works with TomTom hardware. Pretty sure I've seen that in a forum somewhere and on CoolSmartPhone.com. That said, I don't own it - come on, someone must own it and be able to answer us this one ickle question?
Guest Confused Stu Posted March 1, 2005 Report Posted March 1, 2005 Sorry Valerebel, just noticed that you've already started another thread asking if non-TomTom GPS units work with the TomTom software. I'd suggest anyone who can offer assistance with this question post in that topic instead! http://www.modaco.com/index.php?showtopic=202145
