The "fix" is only the traffic update that is also available on TomTom web site.

I guess there's no other way then to buy TomTom again to get it with a working GPS unit. Kinda sux in my opinion. Even the "all GPS" patches you can find with a p2p prog don't do the trick.

I have an IPAQ 3670 with a CF gps card using TOMTOM 2004. It works fine but when I put my IPAQ to sleep and turn it back on again, TOMTOM loses the GPS DEVICE. I have to reconfigure the GPS DEVICE everytime. Is there a way around this?

Does anyone know if you could connect a C500 via USB to a Road Angle 2 unit, so that TomTom mobile can be used as the RA2 as the GPS unit.

I would like to use this method, so that I can still utilise my bluetooth handsfree car kit.

You should be able to use your Tom Tom bluetooth GPS, and you handsfree car kit at the same time. I do! I believe many others do as well, for the record, I currently use a Fortuna Clip-On GPS and Plantronics M3000 headset at the same time

Maybe So, but if you try it it also fixes the problems people are having, well at least it worked for me on my E200 and I had tried all the other fixes....Yes it does install the traffic update software, but It allows tomtom to use any GPS, just name the gps as in one of the posts above and this patch will stop it from being deleted from the available bluetooth devices and allow the tomtom software to work....why be negative and disregard something before you try it, it may work for you too. I guess you dont really want to get yours working

have a look at the file its listed as TomTom GPS Fixer, just search for c500 in the downloads section.....as I say it worked for me

I have tried to attach the file to this post

EDIT

FILE removed please only link to the TOMTOM site for the traffic update.

Don't take it personally cliffbarrimore.

The fix you mention fixes indeed some GPS issues with the E200 and C500 but doesn't allow TomTom on any other phone to connect to a non-TomTom GPS. It is ment as a traffic plugin with some updates on GPS drivers specifically for the C500.

Under /Configurations/Bluetooth Serial Ports

Any idea why my SPV E200 wouldn't have this option?

It offers me BT ActiveSyncSetup and BT Settings

But neither gives me options to do anything with ports etc.

I'm tearing my hair out with this - cannot get tomtom to work with GPS device at all. Everytime I load it pairing is lost ;)

UPDATE 19/05

I finally found the travel plugin which some users are saying should be installed. After installing this though the TomTom software no longer loads correctly. Just sits in a weird unfunctional menu with a lost of POI's when I press run.

Still no idea where these com port settings can be found - I called Orange, no help at all.

Okay i a have been through nearly all the posts and still can't get my TomTom working.

I have TomTom software installed onto phone. Got a GPS device from Ebay. And a nokia 7610 with 256mb memory card.

I need an expert to guide me through the install and connection.

i think the GPS is picking up the satalites, The phone is picking up the GPS unit but TomTom is stating that the "GPS signal was lost 10sec ago"!

I've tried changing the name of the GPS unit to "TomTom Wireless GPS" and "TomTom GPS Receiver" with no luck

Any help or ideas would be greatly appricated.

Thanks

You should use the original gps unit that came with tomtom as it's better and also works.

That cheap unit from ebay does not work with tomtom on the phone as far as I am aware. I know someone who has it for his ppc but I have not managed to get it working on the phone.

Also please do not crosspost.

http://www.modaco.com/how_to_use_spv_e200_...ps-t207422.html

Also as mentioned just a few times in this tread and others the file is not a GPS fixer as such it was designed to be a traffic update for the phone which also enables the TomTom GPS unit to work on the C500 as the original did not.

It was not intended to be a work around for people with dodgy copies to get non gps units to work, that was just an error that crept in.

I have posted this elsewhere, but in case anyone can help me.

I have TomTom 4 installed, my GPS isn't being deleted, is named as "TomTom Wireless GPS". The problem is TomTom never finds it. I just get GPS signal lost straight away when starting TomTom.

1. Should a bluetooth GPS be picked up by a PC? e.g. a Logitech Bluetooth receiver/trasnmitter

2. Is there any software I can get for Windows Mobile that will just check the GPS receiver is talking to the phone OK and isn't faulty? Something that just shows the basic GPS data would be good.

Any help with this would be very appreciated as it's driving me crazy!

Thanks

yup i did managed to get it to work. it was just a matter of waiting on the gps status page for a while. works perfect now. and please...DONT THINK....only answer if u know!

AWarer's point was that if you use the device that came bundled with the software you won't have these problems.

If you didn't get a GPS with your package then it's not a legitimate package, and therefore not a legal copy of the software. We don't encourage piracy here, so the assistance you get will be very limited
