Well I've edited this key; HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\SoundCategories\Ring and set the "Directory" = "\Storage Card\Ringtones\" which I thought allowed me to just have ringtones on my SD card with the ability to browse and choose, but it seems it also applies to ringtones for contacts.
