Alternate Line Service on MPX220

I have bought a vanilla MPX220. I have 2 lines on my Sim card through Orange. I can't find the function to switch lines on the phone. On looking at the phone instructions, one of the pictures displays the symbol for "Line 1", but it is not mentioned anywhere in the instructions. Can anyone shed any light on whether the phone has this function? Whether it available in different firmware? Whether a registry hack can set it up?

I too have a "vanilla" one and just by chance I found it out:

Press # for a few seconds and you'll notice the "1" changes to "2".

it works - but since i do only have one line - the phone just seems dead (dialling possible but no sound)
