Don't be fooled. I'm pretty sure the we love our existing customers bit is really just to con new customers into changing to them.

Are you kidding me??? Have you actually tried being an Orange customer and seeing things from our side? Orange really needs to invest some time and money in researching the customer needs and looking at where they are going wrong.

Maybe Orange should start a poll or we could do it on their behalf!?

Orange seem to treat customers as an inconvenience these days. I could have a thread of my own about the problems I experience with Orange. I look after a large corporate account and have to deal with Orange about once or twice a week and they generally screw every other thing up and dont really care when they do!

It's a sobering thought but my C500 has more processing power than the first pc I used in anger.

P.S. Sorry for continuing this on a Saturday ;)

My perfect phone would be

- A clamshell smartphone with QVGA res. and rotative screen,

- 8-way joystick and comfortable keypad,

- 2MP camera w/ optical zoom, auto-focus, flash,

- 500 Mhz CPU,

- 256 Mb RAM,

- 1 inch Hard Disk & external TransFlash slot,

- GSM 4-Band / GPRS / EDGE / 3G / CDMA-1X ,

- Running Magneto,

- 802.11g wi-fi, Bluetooth, IrDA, miniUSB connection,

- Lightweight (max 100 gr.)

- 2000 mAh battery pack

My perfect network :

It would be Orange France with some modifications.

- Orange France covers 98% of the territory with GSM/GPRS. Now I want 3G coverage in 100% of France ;)

- Cheap SMS : I use SMS a lot, and it's expensive (0.10-0.13€ each)

- Cheap data : a small flat fee for unlimited WAP/Web via GPRS/EDGE/3G

- Lower prices on handsets, particulary when upgrading

- Higher consideration being an old customer

Voilà !

Ok, I'm a student and my perfect "Device" would have to be...

A note book replacement... I really like the idea of MS Notes, and it's only really any good with a Tablet PC... but as usual, they'v got it all wrong! I think a Tablet PC need be no more than the absolute minimum requirement for the OS, no hard core media capabilities, small... doesn't need a keyboard, can get a bluetooth wireless one... oh, and every wireless standard under the sun. Basically, I want to be able to write in it like a note book and pen, (i have small handwriting and needs to be clear with equations and stuff) but with the benefit of just having 8 folders, note books, and lecture handouts wrapped up into one small device. PDAs are too small.

Hey, what would also be good would be a wireless hand held scanner for converting Lecture handouts into electronic form (if they're not already).

Oh, it'd have to be pretty tough (not extreme Panasonic Toughbook style... i'm not gonna through it around or take it into battle on a freezing cold and wet day). Just enough to withstand a few bumps in my bag.

One other major factor is the cost... it'd be nice to be able to buy something like this with the left over money from my student loan after paying the rent for the year... (about £450).

So overall, tough, basic, good stylus, and cheap. Oh, and good batterylife (battery instead of a CD drive would be good).

I think C500 handset is fine, all it could do with is a multipress joystick, built-in WiFi and a Video-Out.

My Orange PAYG is fine at mo, I still have my 5 free texts a day from my Orange OutHere I bought almost 5 years ago for £15!

Oh, almost forgot; a Master System emulator for Smartphone would top it off!

Why do you all want hard disk drives?

They use much to much power, they are to fragile in a phone - we need RAM instead..
