Guest myjess Posted May 5, 2005 Report Posted May 5, 2005 Superb explanation. funny thing though. I got my phone unlocked way back by I think IMEI.CHEck or whatever it is called so that I could put any sim into it! After many hard resets and rom -reloads/upgrades maybe this sim unlocking or CID got changed back! Anyway, hope someone can tell me how to get my phone back to SIM unlocked if it has the French Room loaded.
Guest sterbaya Posted May 9, 2005 Report Posted May 9, 2005 It's now possible to downgrade C500 ROM : http://www.mobismart.net/forums/Default.aspx?g=posts&t=683
Guest myjess Posted May 9, 2005 Report Posted May 9, 2005 Go here all you ex TOMTOM users for dongrading. http://www.modaco.com/TyphoonNbfTools_V03-t206381.html
Guest mossywell Posted May 10, 2005 Report Posted May 10, 2005 It was only a matter of time, though I have to say, those dudes (Arisme and itsme) are seriously fast. I shall, of course, be sticking with the French ROM anyway. ;)
Guest ny-hardcore Posted May 11, 2005 Report Posted May 11, 2005 I tried the method of downgrading to the english rom from the french rom as stated on mobinet site. but to no avail. I have a dutch c500 from Orange upgraded to french latest rom using nbftool and modified the headers of the nbf now i emergancy flashed my bootloader with the UK last rom bootloader and try to upgrade to lastest UK rom (the is no dutch rom afaik). but I get the following errors: when the phone is in normal operational mode (switched on): ERROR 240: File Open when in bootloader mode: ERROR 294: Invalid vendor ID what do I have to do to get back to a previous rom? I think I have to edit the ROMUpdateUtility.exe util am I correct ? Ow yeah, I have no hexedit knowlegde what so ever I want to use TOMTOM on my phone ;)
Guest majB Posted May 11, 2005 Report Posted May 11, 2005 (edited) @ ny-hardcore For dutch users using UK rom. Edit the NBFImage header. Change the operator from ORANGE01 to ORANGE with TyphoonNBFTool, recalculate the header and save the file under another name. Then flash the phone with the new image using ROMUpdateUtility.exe that comes with the original file ( you dont need to hexedit). Edited May 11, 2005 by majB

Guest atlantio Posted July 12, 2005 Report Posted July 12, 2005 (edited) http://www.mobismart.net/forums/Default.aspx?g=posts&t=683 French ROM back to English ROM. EDIT: DON'T DO IT. I broke my smartphone doing it today, stick with the French ROM if you have to and do the 9 or so steps to change the settings to English! Edited July 12, 2005 by atlantio
Guest zen123 Posted July 13, 2005 Report Posted July 13, 2005 I loaded the French rom onto my C500 a while back & couldn't go back to the original UK rom. Last night I downloaded the new UK rom & it loaded onto my phone no problems at all without the need to modify anything.

You did it by simple flashing? No editing involved? Interesting. :)
