Turning off GPRS

press and hold the red hangup key for a few seconds and that should disconnect whatever GPRS connections are active. Do bear in mind that a big G just means that GPRS is available and that you are not actually connected.

Yeah, the "G" in the taskbar simply indicates GPRS reception, not an actual connection. A connection is indicated by two arrows and a small G below them.

What about switching it off so that it can't connect if, for example, you start internet explorer. Is this possible?

Connections/Advanced/Select Networks

Set your connections to use My ISP, rather than GPRS.

(I think that's it...)

u could configure it to the another networks settings and when you enter the internet per se it will connect and fail.... baring that the other way would be to have your service provider remove gprs from you account
