Guest vol_taire Posted June 15, 2005 Report Posted June 15, 2005 Hi all, Got my c500 yesterday, and thought you might be interested to know: "ROM update versions: Operator: 4.2.1.1" .. Windows Media Player 10 Mobile Version 10.0
Guest Gavin Posted June 16, 2005 Report Posted June 16, 2005 Mine just came back from HTC today also. With new ROM installed. The clowns charged me £28.20 for delivery to Ireland though  For a flipping in warranty repair. They said it would be next day, it took two days
Guest waroffice Posted June 16, 2005 Report Posted June 16, 2005 so is it worth me having a warranty repair on my phone, my phones keypad is failing...willi get an update
Guest Dr Who Posted June 16, 2005 Report Posted June 16, 2005 so is it worth me having a warranty repair on my phone, my phones keypad is failing...willi get an update <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Curses. Can't believe I got the old ROM if they are releasing phones with the new one on it.
Guest Geoffy Posted June 16, 2005 Report Posted June 16, 2005 My new C500, on Monday, had WM10 (work phone) -Geoffy
Guest celica1.8st Posted June 17, 2005 Report Posted June 17, 2005 Does this make sure the "leaked" Rom isn't illegal now? As Orange are actually distributing it??
Guest cuk0724 Posted June 19, 2005 Report Posted June 19, 2005 Just had a replacement phone delivered by Orange and it has the 4.2.1.1 ROM ;)
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted June 21, 2005 Report Posted June 21, 2005 Does this make sure the "leaked" Rom isn't illegal now? As Orange are actually distributing it?? Not yet, they may be putting it on new phones but until they release it as an update for the public to download it will still be classed as warez and linking to will not be permitted.
Guest cuk0724 Posted June 21, 2005 Report Posted June 21, 2005 Just had another replacement delivered (not bad only lasted 1 day) and this one has the old version ROM in it. It would seam that it is pot luck as to what is sent out.

Not a software error was it? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> No, people tell me I sound like I'm underwater when I speak to them. It's not the ROM version as it also happened on the old version, and now on this phone (also old version ROM). Orange now think it might not be the handset but the SIM, we shall see!!
Guest quackup Posted June 21, 2005 Report Posted June 21, 2005 Actually mate you're looking at the wrong thing . . . thats something to do with windows . . . scroll down the ABOUT screen and find the bit that says "ROM update versions: Operator: "INSERT ROM VERSION HERE" " the operator version has always got a single digit between full-stops i.e the current ROM on mine 4.1.1.4 Check again mate and let us know what you've got and when you brought the phone oh and 4.1.1.4 is the standard - you'll also know if you have the new ROM if you have Media player 10 instead of 9 <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Just got my SMT5600 and it says the ROM is 2.0.42.10. How do I go about getting a new ROM version?
Guest cuk0724 Posted June 23, 2005 Report Posted June 23, 2005 Ok after 3 replacements Orange thought they should give me a new and not repaired on. Well this one had the new ROM on it.
Guest mupwangle Posted June 23, 2005 Report Posted June 23, 2005 I received a replacement c500 tonight which appears to be a new one and has 4.1.1.4 on it.
Guest drblow Posted June 23, 2005 Report Posted June 23, 2005 If you got a new replacement you would know about it. in the first place you would have to fight for it from CS, and secondly it would arrive in a box with all the cables etc, and you would have to return your entire old phone, battery & all.

So when you get the new phone you get another sd card ;)
Guest mupwangle Posted June 24, 2005 Report Posted June 24, 2005 >>If you got a new replacement you would know about it. Yeah, I thought that but I only received a battery and a phone. If it isn't new then the keyboard, screen, battery and case have all been replaced as it is absolutely immaculate. Anyhow, I couldn't send the phone bits back cos I lost it.
