When I bought my C500 it was for use with an O2 SIM so unlocking was very important to me. I paid £30 to get this done, and then switched to Orange when O2 wouldn't support half the features of the phone.

Anyway, this program would have been perfect for me, and for millions of other people out there with C500s. Well done on doing this - this thread should be framed somewhere for new users looking to unlock their phones.

SPVServices.exe = Error - Unable to open the file. The system returned the error 'Access denied'!

The phone is App unlocked.

Any guesses why it says Access denied? the files are on my Storage Card

You need to run cert.cab on your phone, and SPV-Services.exe on your PC.

Fantastic! Got the unlock message but left it for a bit then it worked. Tested with o2 SIM and no problems.

Then I realised my phone is getting swapped out by O range tomorrow. D'oh!

installation failed, the program or setting cannot be installed because it does not have adequate system permissions

As stated in my original post, your phone needs to be Application Unlocked first. See here:

what if my Orange C500 has now the QTek ROM (version ROM 2.1.32.11) ?

is it still possible to sim unlock it?

I run the SIMlock tool and I think I'm stuck am the message:

"Please wait, reading encrypted block..."

How long does this step have to run?

A few timeouts (lots of traffic hitting the server ?) , but it found a locked sim , and unlocked , swapped in a vodaphone sim and it connected and works fine - now all i need is a dual sim adaptor :-)

Worked fine for me.

Copied Cert.cab onto my phone and installed it.

Ran SPVServices.exe and unlocked. No problems whatsoever.

Tested with an o2 sim I had lying around and all looks good.
