Databases and GPRS

Hi,

Firstly, i've got some C/C++/DirectX experience. That was many moons ago though... and like any good slacker have spent my recent times "programming" coldfusion/javascript... etc etc...

exposition aside, i'm a little rusty. So i thought i'd start with the easy stuff :?:

I have no experience in working with internet protocols and databases in C/C++.

I plan to make a game for smartphones, database heavy.

1. So first question, whats gonna be the best DB software to use.. SQL CE, eSQL are some of the names i've seen banded about.

2. Is it possible to easily sync these with PC databases using TC/IP or wotever?

What i mean by this is, how easy is it to access the data on a different platform and use it to update a possibly different set of database software.

3. Is it just as easy to send the data back the other way?

So for example a user (mp game) submits a database of there selected options (teamsheet wotever) to the desktop PC through the internet. The desktop PC then does all the computing, like figuring out the winner and sends the results table and league table back to the fone(s).

thats it in its simplest of terms i guess.

Any links/tutorials y'all have much appreciated.
