Guest 4N1L Posted June 26, 2005 Report Posted June 26, 2005 None of the stores i visited today had the C500 on prepay :) (Islington, High Holborn - closed, Covent Garden) so i've taken Dr Nick's advice and gone for the black version from additions direct. I used the promotional code "D3ZK" which gives 10% off total order so it should bring the price down to around £116 - not a bad price even if it is in black. Thanks for the heads up Dr Nick!
Guest Weavo Posted June 30, 2005 Report Posted June 30, 2005 Am I correct in thinking that this phone has now disappeared from the 'additions' site, as I can't find it :) I also can't find it on the 'mobiledealer' site. Can anyone else find it?
Guest 4N1L Posted June 30, 2005 Report Posted June 30, 2005 Yeah, it's gone...just had a look and it's nowhere to be seen. I haven't received mine yet so i'm half expecting to get the out of stock email.
Guest 4N1L Posted June 30, 2005 Report Posted June 30, 2005 My C500 arrived earlier this morning...it came in at the amazingly competitive price of £112.50 (although the introduction of the C550 will probably mean these will start dropping in price rapidly). @ Weavo I've found the C500 available at Great Universal (catalogue shop) for £120 - you may be able to get some sort of 'first order' or promotion code discount if you look around, which will bring the price down further... Oh, you guys were right, the black version is not as bad as i first thought! :) www.greatuniversal.com
Guest slysi Posted June 30, 2005 Report Posted June 30, 2005 I ordered a C500 from the Additions website as well and today they delivered me a Motorola C385, not happy  . So the phone not being shown on the website is making me wonder if i will get mine at all ( they say i will!!!!)
Guest mavisdavis Posted June 30, 2005 Report Posted June 30, 2005 A mate ordered his from Adittions and he got it in 2 days. It does sound like a simple mistake to me. Have faith :)

We must have had the same muppet picking our items coz i got the exact same phone delivered to me the first time round! The delivery man picked up the offending Motorola C385 this morning when he handed me my C500. Did you use the discount code?
Guest slysi Posted June 30, 2005 Report Posted June 30, 2005 (edited) I did use the discount code, Thanks for that. Well I ordered it on sunday night and it arrived today (Thursday), they have said the correct phone will be delivered by next Wednesday so fingers crossed :) Out of interest 4N1L did you order yours on Sunday, if so did you use standard delivery as you have had 2 delivered in the time it took to send 1 to me. I was soo looking forward to playing with it tonight as well ( i know i'm sad) :D Edited June 30, 2005 by slysi

The C500 is still available on Great Universal at 120.00 for Orange PAYG. Very good price. Does unlocking still cost around 25.00? Think I'll go for this and buy a CoPilot satnav package to use on it.
Guest 4N1L Posted July 1, 2005 Report Posted July 1, 2005 @ Slysi...Yeah, i placed my order on Sunday using standard delivery - i think it just depends on your area. I suspect the mail order catalogue shops have tons of stock to clear so keep a look out for them at discount prices.
Guest Marcos_ Posted July 2, 2005 Report Posted July 2, 2005 When does the C550 get released? And has anyone found any discunt codes for that great universal site? Seems like the best price so far
Guest 4N1L Posted July 3, 2005 Report Posted July 3, 2005 This month apparantly. I personally think the C500 is still worth getting - the C550 doesn't add that much and you gotta ask yourself what other phone you could get for £120 (not many to rival the C500 to be honest)!
Guest Marcos_ Posted July 3, 2005 Report Posted July 3, 2005 (edited) Just wondering about the c550's release as the SP3i will drop in price and so should the c500 but i've heard some dodgy things about the SP3i build quality, its down to £230 already, but i really only want it over the c500 because of the joystick Edited July 3, 2005 by Marcos_
Guest 4N1L Posted July 3, 2005 Report Posted July 3, 2005 Marcos, i was in the same situation - i desperately wanted to avoid the C500 with it's rocker but in the end i just couldn't justify spending the extra £115 on the SP3i (C500 = £112.50, SP3i = £230.00) I've also heard dodgy things about the SP3i (i.e. flaky paintwork on the keypad etc, etc)
Guest Marcos_ Posted July 3, 2005 Report Posted July 3, 2005 Did you go with the c500? How do you find the rocker? Also, where did you get that price?
Guest 4N1L Posted July 3, 2005 Report Posted July 3, 2005 Yep, went for a black C500 (wanted silver but couldn't get hold of one). The rocker is not as great as a joystick IMO but you get used to it very quickly. I got mine from the additions direct website (see pg 2 of this thread) with a promotional code i had but i think they are out of stock at the moment. Some forum members have said www.greatuniversal.com are still doing them for £120 but you would need to check.

They also offer interest free credit. Go for it!
