Guest RazorD Posted July 19, 2005 Report Posted July 19, 2005 (edited) ok, i LOVE orange... I rang up and did the whole "T-mobile do it for free.." and he said "I'll do it for free" then i said about the student package, and "thats the thousend text one, right?" So i said yeh (you also get 50% off calls to landlines, but that didnt bother me, i only call mobiles... So now! I'm on another 12 month contract @ £30, with 1000 texts per month, and a M500... for £30 a month :) Thanks to I.C. Monsters for the tip :D EDIT: One hour later: Okies, maybe "Love" was a bit over the top, but you know what the moment is like. :D Edited July 19, 2005 by RazorD
Guest I. C. Monsters Posted July 19, 2005 Report Posted July 19, 2005 You know that's what really really ticks me off. I spoke to small business support on two or three occassions and said that I wanted to end my contract because I could get a better deal elsewhere (T-mobile) and they just said 'fine, bye'. Where is the consistency??? As it happens my M500 from mobileshop on a new Orange contract will be here this morning. Anyway, nice job IC Monsters at least you got some satisfaction. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Although I am pleased for myself, I still find the service from Orange deplorable. I very nearly jumped ship and went to T-Mobile. Still don't really know why I'm sticking with Orange. I guess it's just easier, and I already know the nature of this beast. It stinks that people are having to take out new contracts just to get a handset that is available for free. Come on Orange, sort it out. :?:

I'm glad you got a result. :D EDIT: It must have been that 500th post I made on this very thread that sealed my fate. Something is looking over us Modaco-ers. Then again, maybe not. :| Edited July 19, 2005 by I. C. Monsters

It just made sense to stay, much less hassle! -Raz
Guest Dade Posted July 19, 2005 Report Posted July 19, 2005 Anyone else fed up with the rubber flap on the bottom of the M500 yet??

I'm glad I didn't see the original post then! As for the rubber flap - what is the general opinion. Have most folk removed them? Any comparisons with the JAM styling and useability? I'm still in the deciding phase (waiting for contract renewal time!)

Anyway, as i said I'm just strange :)

Guest NikLP Posted July 19, 2005 Report Posted July 19, 2005 Could somebody just re-re-reconfirm that there is a standard sized headphone jack on this beast? i.e 3.5mm (I think) instead of the ghastly 2mm...
Guest RazorD Posted July 19, 2005 Report Posted July 19, 2005 I just went back to page 4 of this thread (where box contents in discussed) and theres no cradle... Does anyone know of any good ones available? Thanks :) -Raz

Guest Russell@home Posted July 19, 2005 Report Posted July 19, 2005 Has anyone managed to upgrade through OCS on 150 yet?
Guest soup dragon Posted July 19, 2005 Report Posted July 19, 2005 (edited) Anyone else fed up with the rubber flap on the bottom of the M500 yet?? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yep, within 20 seconds of switching it on and then trying to plug the charge cable in I wanted to rip it right off. Stupid idea putting it there in the first place. Why put one on the M500 and not on the C500/C550 :?: Seeing as this phone may be going back though I'd better leave it on :) Edited July 19, 2005 by soup dragon
Guest Russell@home Posted July 19, 2005 Report Posted July 19, 2005 Just called retentions and explained about t-mobile & he still said that the best price was £99.99. BTW, he also said that the phone was officially launced yesterday.

Guest I. C. Monsters Posted July 19, 2005 Report Posted July 19, 2005 (edited) Mr D, I too have just entered the last month of my contract, and I've just got off the phone to Orange. I just said that I wanted to give notice of closing my account, she asked why, I said M500. I explained that T-Mobile would give me the same handset for free, and guess what, my new M500 is being delivered to work tomorrow. I was planning on going to the T-Mobile shop after work today and sign up with them. Lucky old Orange get to keep me for another year. :| <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I managed to get the M500 for free, on upgrade from OCS on 150. I don't think Orange do consistency, it's just not thier style. EDIT: It was retentions who sorted this for me. Edited July 19, 2005 by I. C. Monsters
Guest RazorD Posted July 19, 2005 Report Posted July 19, 2005 Has anyone managed to upgrade through OCS on 150 yet? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I have, ish. It was retentions who 'upgraded' me, but im sure you can :)
Guest digger Posted July 19, 2005 Report Posted July 19, 2005 So basically. Contact OCS and if they will not upgrade you for free, try later :?:
Guest shakey68 Posted July 19, 2005 Report Posted July 19, 2005 My M500 has been confirmed as going out in the next hour from Mobileshop.co.uk I've now cancelled my order with One Stop Phone Shop, who are absolutely useless!
Guest Behold Posted July 19, 2005 Report Posted July 19, 2005 Well its finally official it is now available in stock for upgrade to all the stock came in this afternoon apparently..... But min is here tommorow!!!! Finally.... will claim costing back via complaint as they will not waiver it. but i want more than just 49.99 back. i want compensation on top.
Guest jamesb Posted July 19, 2005 Report Posted July 19, 2005 Ordered my M500 from Mobileshop on Sunday night and got it this morning. I'm well impressed with this phone (and mobileshop), even if I do now need to find and download PPC versions of all the apps I use on my C500. Between that and keeping up with this thread, looks like I wont be eating or sleeping for a while! :)
Guest tuggster Posted July 19, 2005 Report Posted July 19, 2005 (edited) Hello All! Have been following this thread for a while now but this is my first post. Thought I would share my experience with my M500 order... Having weighed up all the options (and observed some of the appauling customer service many of you have experienced at the hands of Orange), I decided to order an M500 over the Orange website last Friday. Recieved confirmation on Saturday and so was quite a happy chappy. Delivery arrived today at lunchtime and I tore open the delivery packaging to discover.... A Motorola V500! :x A few phone calls to Orange, firstly to returns who paradoxically claimed this wasn't for them to deal with but customer services, and then two to customer service (first one got cut off mid-sentence.. grr!) and have arranged to send it back and have it replaced. I was given this explaination - Apparently this is a bug in the website and everyone who orders the M500 is getting the V500. So they have to redo the entire order through the website store system and they can't do this until the bug is fixed. Asked if they could perhaps dispatch a M500 to me now as I would return the V500 immediately and was told that it was unavailable to the phone line staff - wtf? Given an estimate of a couple of days to get this sorted, but I'm not so convinced. :) EDIT: Forgot to mention that was also invoiced for the Motorola @ £99.99 even though this phone should be free - so goodness knows how someone managed to make this mistake! (even if it was a computer bug.) Has anyone else been delivered a V500 by mistake? It looks like it isn't just existing customers that are getting mistreated by Orange!
