Guest davidhorn Posted January 24, 2003 Report Posted January 24, 2003 Orange probably won't tell you this by email, but all application signing has been suspended indefinately, due to the release of the crack.
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted January 24, 2003 Report Posted January 24, 2003 Does that mean they are giving up? ;)
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted January 24, 2003 Report Posted January 24, 2003 That was to GeoTrust, not Orange. GeoTrust are providing the certificates under Baltimore's juristicion (sp) Anyway, back Sunday. We'll see if they reply tonite.
Guest spacemonkey Posted January 24, 2003 Report Posted January 24, 2003 Hey, some geezer posted a thing on a forum regarding Orange giving up on cert... must be true ;)
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted January 25, 2003 Report Posted January 25, 2003 I read it as all software that is waiting to be signed won't be until a fix is found. Damn my inability to cohere grammer.
Guest DJHope Posted January 25, 2003 Report Posted January 25, 2003 Very intresting, dont be fooled into thinking orange will give in on certification, although id like to think they will, they might just hint at it and then when everyone updates hit them with the fix! ;) Just my consipracy theory! DJ Hope
Guest ajb3000 Posted January 26, 2003 Report Posted January 26, 2003 Paul, did you manage to set up the company? I'm getting very excited by this and would like to see it get up and running A.S.A.P.
Guest glynton Posted January 27, 2003 Report Posted January 27, 2003 This looks like a viable solution to money collection... www.paypal.com
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted January 27, 2003 Report Posted January 27, 2003 I don't really want to set up the co till Baltimore confirm we can play! PayPal is OK, but they take a cut. It would be better to do direct bank transfer... P
Guest Yousaf Posted January 27, 2003 Report Posted January 27, 2003 i think this is an excellent idea - yeah u guys are right in terms of a viable paymenty method but im up for it!
Guest Will Posted January 28, 2003 Report Posted January 28, 2003 I don't think you should dismiss paypal. They have really improved the service, for a £10.00 'purchase' you recieve £9.41. with a one off fee of £1 to transfer into an account. (these are as far as i know). (you would not get much better deal than that, unless you already have merchant accounts setup.) And they take a wide selection of CC's including delta! Will
Guest yatpeak Posted January 28, 2003 Report Posted January 28, 2003 Lets have this as one of the programs to sign. http://www.modaco.com/viewtopic.php?p=16376 Wyatt
Guest Firaas Posted January 28, 2003 Report Posted January 28, 2003 Right, been in touch with Baltimore sales! The lady, Stephanie, referred me to their Strategic Alliances Director (SAD). She's passed on the contact details to me, which I've forwarded to Monolithix - hopefully he'll have a reply tonight! Monolithix: don't forget to tell us how it went with Mr SAD ;)
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted January 28, 2003 Report Posted January 28, 2003 Firaas, Monolithix... Want me to call him? P
Guest Firaas Posted January 28, 2003 Report Posted January 28, 2003 Paul - I'll email you the details now, Monolithix is planning to call him around 2pm today, so if you can catch him before, go ahead!
Guest uczmeg Posted January 28, 2003 Report Posted January 28, 2003 Have a look at www.fastpay.com I've started using this instead of Nochex and PayPal recently. They charge you 20p to send cash, and NOTHING to withdraw cash or to load cash into your account. You can load cash into your account from sevreal different credit cards or you bank. A good option if peole can't bank transfer and instant. Cheers Marc
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted January 28, 2003 Report Posted January 28, 2003 Hi sorry, busy day at work today + catching up after my IE decided to hide all of Mondays posts yesterday  Paul: whichever way is easiest ;) My current plan was: Give it until 9am-ish EST (2pm GMT), to see if they reply to my e-mail. Then i'll call the bloke Firaas got the details for, and ask him for more details. See wehere it goes from there. Comments?
Guest Firaas Posted January 28, 2003 Report Posted January 28, 2003 Have a look at www.fastpay.com Yeah I found out about them the other day but forgot to mention - they're by natwest so they seem very reliable.
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted January 28, 2003 Report Posted January 28, 2003 Yeah, you call them Monolithix, if you have no joy, i'll give em a call ;) P
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted January 28, 2003 Report Posted January 28, 2003 Voicemail ;). Not back until Thursday apparently, I'll try again then. I'll start looking for other numbers too.
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted January 28, 2003 Report Posted January 28, 2003 Right, I'm off home now. Progress today: That bloke Firaas got the number for is unavailable until Thursday, guess I'll wait til then to call him In the mean time I have been trying teh GeoTrust sales line, but just spent 20 mins on the phone to America just to be put on hold ;) I'll keep trying tomorrow, and of course update if I eveer get a reply to my e-mail.
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted January 30, 2003 Report Posted January 30, 2003 Just an update guys, I am off to the bank on Monday, when I will set up the bank account etc. for the ASP (application signing project). Once this is done, I will set up the seperate forum, and we can start the ball rolling. Assuming it's OK with you guys, I would like to register with Baltimore under MoDaCo Ltd, but use a totally seperate bank account for ASP, the statements for which will be posted online for all to see, so you know i'm not ripping you off. OK? I'm still not sure how to track who the money coming in is from, it's something I'll chat to the business advisor on Friday. So... All systems go! ;) P PS I'm a bit quiet on the board atm, cos I have 2 weeks of being snowed under in my day job, then a week in Redmond, but I *am* still about
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted January 30, 2003 Report Posted January 30, 2003 Incidentally, from the Geotrust website: When selecting the number of signing events needed please select the amount of the total individual files you intend on signing. Example: One Smartphone application which includes three (3) .dll files and one (1) .cab file will use a total of four (4) signing events. ;) P
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted January 30, 2003 Report Posted January 30, 2003 I'll call that bloke Firaas got contact details for today. He should be back by now. I'll update you when i can.
