Guest patp Posted July 17, 2005 Report Posted July 17, 2005 How do they sound compared with 128Kbps MP3? But surely even with an improved OGG codec (AOTUV) you're still zapping almost all the quality of the original file out of it. Compression number 1 is only 50Kbps. That's vastly lower than the recommended 128Kbps for MP3 or even 96Kbps of WMA files. It's no wonder each song is only 1Mb there isn't anything left. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Of course it's degraded, but audio compression is all about trading off quality against size. For a small-capacity device like this, I personally like to use compression I would never use a dedicated MP3 player, just so I can get more on. All I can say is give it a go.
Guest Phil Lee Posted July 18, 2005 Report Posted July 18, 2005 I've also noticed that the phone now automatically switches to Headset profile when a bluetooth headset is connected. The only problem with this is that the profile setting for Headset don't seem to work properly. The phone ignores the setting for system sound volume in the headset profile, meaning that I get the annoying system sounds when my bluetooth headset is active. Also the auto-answer option doesn't work with my Jabra 250 bluetooth headset.
Guest newmachine Posted July 23, 2005 Report Posted July 23, 2005 I believe these wasn't available in the old ROM: - Option to "Send -> Beam File " in the Multimedia Album and/or File Manager (in the old ROM there was only "send via MMS" and "as Email"). "Beam File" here means sending via IR and Bluetooth... so, I don't need SmartExplorer anymore. hehehe - album cover, library & playlist support support in WMP10 - Some themes I downloaded now works well, it used to be broken (like missing colors, pictures not in place, etc.) - updated java midlet manager (?) -> not sure.....
Guest davidhoff Posted July 24, 2005 Report Posted July 24, 2005 I also used to work with wma because they sounded good and my old p3 ripped wma very fast! But now I discovered ogg and that only wm10 plays wma I changed my opinion. The only nasty fact is that my pc is doing so awfull long about ripping ogg! Maybe somebody here has got a solution for me (already tested dBpower and audioconvert 2).
