Guest fozzie Posted September 22, 2005 Report Posted September 22, 2005 Unlock the phone 'properly' using the Orange Developers website. There's a huge thread about OTA unlocking. This thread is about SIM unlocking, not App unlocking.
Guest homer_j_s Posted October 8, 2005 Report Posted October 8, 2005 Tried this decert method on my c550 and it did not work :o

Guest bbewekim Posted October 19, 2005 Report Posted October 19, 2005 Thanks you guys finally got it working! ur life savers, i will display what i did. I used the reg editor to change the things to 1 and 40 or w/e. Then got the SPV SERVICES program. Installed the CAB on my phone and put the .dll file on there aswel. Then ran the SPVSERVICES application from my pc whilst the phone was connected. Clicked the sim unlock tool on the left hand side of the program, and followd the instructions and it worked ;)
Guest dave106 Posted October 26, 2005 Report Posted October 26, 2005 BTW by removing the System flag on the reg edit in the first post, you can copy it across without worrying about unzipping after, bluetoothing or putting on the sd card. Heres the editor with the System flag removed.regeditSTG.exe

Hee hee - lucky you. ;) As per usual the UK seems way behind when releasing new phones. Have you had any othe SmartPhones? How does the C600 compare?
Guest coaster Posted November 3, 2005 Report Posted November 3, 2005 i had the c500, the c600 joystick is mutch better ! now the menus ar with icons (nice to view) and the speed is like the c500. the colour is dark silver. mediaplayer 10 task and filemanager mini sd-car 32mb included but the best: the display is excellent !!

Guest nickolarse74 Posted November 10, 2005 Report Posted November 10, 2005 Heya... I'd just like to confirm that our free C500 SIM unlock tool works perfectly on the C550 (thanks nedge2k for the testing) To decert (application unlock) the C550, simply change these keys using the attached registry editor (it's the freeware PHM editor signed by HTC): HKLM\Security\Policies\Policies\00001001 = 1 (RAPI) HKLM\Security\Policies\Policies\00001005 = 40 (Cert) Hello, i am havin a few prbloems i follwed these exactly, and installed it the SPV-Services correctly. when i come to open the SPV-Services i get an error, 'Unable to open the file. The system returned the error 'Acces Denied!'.' Please help thanks a;pt

Guest chillyjames Posted November 15, 2005 Report Posted November 15, 2005 Hi, I received my new spv c550 on upgrade today (for free ) and wanted to put another sim card in so I used the spvservices sim unlock tool. Now my phone can't get reception!! I go in to network settings and manually try to find a network but it wont let me! I followed instructions exactly! Please help, need to use my phone! Tried to reverse it by relocking phone, but no luck! Please help! Cheers, James
Guest paul1957 Posted November 16, 2005 Report Posted November 16, 2005 Ik was also lucky in program unlocking my I-mate sp5m with your code changes: HKLM\Security\Policies\Policies\00001001 = 1 (RAPI) HKLM\Security\Policies\Policies\00001005 = 40 (Cert) The old values were 2 and 16 if you want to lock it up again. Maybe this is good, I don't know. Thank you very much Paul.

Guest SorinIndustries Posted November 24, 2005 Report Posted November 24, 2005 The registry ed worked perfectly on my spv c500, thankyou! It saved me buying an orange sim card.
Guest tamathumper Posted November 28, 2005 Report Posted November 28, 2005 I've tried this and several other registry editors (...STG, PHM, and VB .NET) but all of them give back an error when trying to change those registry entries. It appears I am not allowed to write to those registry settings... Any suggestions? I am trying to change the values, not the key names, and I am trying all this because a recent Exchange upgrade broke my sync certificate(s).
Guest hari-bhari Posted November 30, 2005 Report Posted November 30, 2005 i just purchased a c550 for use with t-mobile usa. i tried everything i have seen in this threat from the app unlock to de-cert and clicked pretty much every link i could find. my problem is that no matter what i do, i cant get past the 'invalid or missing sim' screen when the sim card is not in. when i do put the sim card in, the phone just asks me for an unlock code. i am able to connect to the phone via activesyn and even drag and drop the decert.cab file on, but then i have no way of installing it. someone please help!
Guest Confucious Posted November 30, 2005 Report Posted November 30, 2005 You need either a UK Orange SIM to unlock it for free or you have to pay at imei-check for their unlock.
Guest ericharlz Posted December 14, 2005 Report Posted December 14, 2005 thanks for this tool and procedure.. works like a charm... kudos to you masters
Guest Ish07930 Posted December 21, 2005 Report Posted December 21, 2005 Thanks for this I got my C550 today and unlocked it :) I used activesync to transfer the ZIP of the reg editor onto my phone. I then unzipped the file on the phone and used it to make the reg key changes. 8)
