It did unlock my phone perfectly and the software installed fine too, and I restarted my phone but everytime I go into the software, I can't do anything, the soft keys are titled "Home" and "Menu" but I cant do anything, and the phone slows down a lot.

All my fonts have changed when I restarted my phone too.

What can be wrong?

EDIT: And my phone is extremely slow now too :o

I dnt know y it changed all ur system fonts. and wen u go into the software click the joystick (center) button then u should be able to enter the software. try to restart the phone again and see if the font issue gets solved if it dnt, try uninstalling and reinstalling. and bt ur phone getting slow try to free some space in ur phone, this software is pretty large, it has the whole quran and etc so it needs space to run smoothly.

I installed it on my MiniSD card, and I still have 8Mb free on my card and 13Mb free on my phone. There are 2 options to get into the software, one is a folder named Pocket Islam and another just the icon, which is the one to go for?

How do uninstall and reinstall it though? I cant seem to find anyplace to uninstall it.

I go into via the start menu, before going into it, the left soft key is titled "Home" and the right soft key is titled "Menu", once going into it, those soft keys stay the same, I get a picture up on the screen but then nothing happens at all, it just freezes, even if I press the "Back" button nothing happens, I have to keep the red "put down handset" pressed to lock the keypad and only then does it go back to home screen and then I have to unlock the keypad, but then I cant get back into the software.

Under uninstall, the software's name isn't there... :?:

EDIT: I found the name under "uninstall" but it wont let me uninstall it, it says it cant be uninstalled :o

Press the joystic (Action) key and you will get into Pocket Islam proper.

Took me a while to work that out too by the way.

Can the developers please make it clearer for new users - Thanks!.

Yes I found that happens with me too.

This is what I do to overcome that:

1. Select Menu/Pocket Quran (Sometimes it takes more than one go to get in)

2. Select Goto Ayah

3. Scroll down to Surah you require then select. (Briefly move joystick right before scrolling down...otherwise it does not scroll down).

4.Then select File/Close to close down Pocket Quran (Important)

5. Finally enter Pocket Quran again and your selected Surah will show.

Please can this be ironed out in future releases.

Hi guys,

Sorry this is slightly off-topic, but I found Memorisation Mushaf from here. Anyone know if it should work on my SPV C550? Cos I tried, and it didn't work - I got something like 'this application is not intended for this device', which sounds pretty conclusive, but I'd like to know in case there's a chance I did it incorrectly!

Cheers. ;)

Assalamu alaikum

Akhi Ad241, i tried it on my SPV C500 when i used to have that. It was a bit of an overload for the phone. The problem also persists on C550. Maybe the program could be broken down into smaller pieces? This will speed it up surely, inshaAllah. If you need any sound files akhi, you can pm me inshaAllah. JazaakAllah.

I was also pretty desperate for Dr Muhsin Khan's translation of the Qur'an for Smartphone. Is there anything available around?

Seems like Smartphone either hasn't been around long enough, or isn't popular enough for people to start developing.

If anyone needs the Arabic version of Qur'an as a separate file, it can be downloaded here.

This works on SPV C550 however the writing is sooo tiny. may Allah (swt) have mercy on the brother that developed this, and Pocket Islam. :)

Salaam..

I see this thread has been dormant for a year now.. Hope that someone has managed to solve my problem concerning Pocket Islam SP 5

I'm using a Motorola Mpx220 Smartphone WM2003se. I've done a hard reset and reinstalled the Pocket Islam SP 5 a few times and have identified the following:

Prior to Installation, no fonts are installed in the font directory

After installation, 4 fonts are installed:

1 for the arabic script

1 for arabic surah names

1 called tahoma (there is a filesize difference to the desktop tahoma font though everything else is identical)

1 called tahoma Bd

The phone must be reset to display any quranic text. After resetting, normal text appears slightly wider. This causes all text to float off the right-hand side of screen and thus unreadable. Deleting the 2 tahoma fonts prior to resetting the phone causes normal text to display as an unusual font (possibly courier, ms serif, terminal, etc) but still floats off screen.

Thus I believe that Pocket Islam SP 5 is somehow changing two settings:

1. Causing the phone to search for and use the tahoma as default font for normal text

2. Modifying the display resolution to adapt to the new font

This is just my thoughts, and I have basic expertese but no knowledge on how to handle this further. It may require registry editing which I am capable of but I wouldn't know what to edit or what to edit it to. The program has not been updated for a very long time so I'm not expecting a resolution from the developer even though I have mailed them. So I am hoping that someone out there has managed to solve the problem or willing to assist me in solving it as from what I have seen and read I believe it is a musthave utility in the daily life of any modern muslim. A program like this will not just be installed and forgotten but will be used daily as I am sure all who have it installed would know.

Thanking you in advance and anxiously awaiting someone's reply
