Guest novice05 Posted September 19, 2005 Report Posted September 19, 2005 >>Also on the spv c550 is it possible to listen to radio? Windows smartphones don't usually come with radios (unless I missed something!) The only way to do it is over the net but that costs a fortune!!! >>Turn it up i hear u say ! i have it turned up as loud as it appears it can be ? What am i missing here/ Obvious things to check - check that it is actually playing and not on pause (i know that's kinda obvious!) Check that other sounds on your phone work OK - ringtones and so on - as the volume on the phone might be down. Check the volume on media player (I think its up and down on the keypad) Other than that nothing springs to mind. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> thanks mupwangle , the windows media files are still not working,. Ringtones, sms tones are working a right treat thanks :o any other ideas?

Guest Disco Stu Posted September 27, 2005 Report Posted September 27, 2005 Storing songs on the phone itself will certainly use up the memory. It is always best to save as much as you can to the storage card. It might even be that there is not enough memory for Windows Media Player to open properly. 8 ringtones is a bit excessive too, depending on how big the files are of course. The reason you would do a hard reset is to get the phone back to factory condition. If any of the pre-installed software has becoome corrupted this will sort it out. You need to sync your Contacts etc with ActiveSync first and move all your own files from the phone memory onto your PC as the memory is wiped completely.
Guest bradmatejo Posted September 27, 2005 Report Posted September 27, 2005 You're getting the Low Storage warning because of the songs. The phone doesn't have all that much space for file storage, and full songs will take up a lot of space (especially if you have them in wav files!) If you want to listen to songs, you need to get a mini-SD card. Put your music on the card so it doesn't fill up your phone's built-in storage. Ringtones are fine to leave in the phone's Storage>Application Data>Sounds folder. A hard reset will put the phone back to its original just-out-of-the-box state. You don't want to do that unless you've messed something up royally and don't mind losing all the work you've done thusfar. As for the volume, make sure the phone isn't on the Silent profile. Go Start>Settings>Profiles, the checkmark will tell you what profile you're in. Choose Normal if you don't need your phone to be silent for some reason. Secondly, make sure the System Sound Volume isn't turned down. Go to the profile selection screen again, and with the 'cursor' over Normal hit the Menu softkey and choose Edit. Scroll down to System Sound Volume (should be the last item) and set the volume to 3 or 4. If it is at 1 or Off, that could be your problem. Hopefully that will work. Otherwise, I'm not sure what else you can try...
Guest slider Posted September 29, 2005 Report Posted September 29, 2005 Don't click on the files.. this is why there opening with the default app (Media player in your case) Open a file explore (My Computer->Mobile Device->My Smartphone) then browse to the folder you need, once thats open, open the folder where you downloaded your music too, you should end up with something like screenshot 1 (Attached file). All you then need to do is click and hold your left button on the file you want to copy, then move the pointer over the spv explorer window you opened first and let go.. (Iv'e had to compress the attached file with rar to shrink it, so you'll need winrar or other compression software, sorry but was too big to send as is, and didnt want to jpg it as the text would have been unreadable..)screenshot1.rar

Guest XiSt3nCe Posted January 13, 2006 Report Posted January 13, 2006 Well, if you have a 1gb SD card which at the current time are around $80.00 USD Say you adverage 3mb per song. Thats about 330 MP3s. Which is more than I'd ever need. :?:
