Thank you for letting us know. I'll give Orange a call (finally) first thing in the morning.

3 calls to Orange this morning - all say that the phone is not yet released. And nobody has yet posted to say they've managed to get through and order one.

Was the text you received from 194? And did it have a name of someone to ask for?

OK guys - I didnt phone them up originally because I ended up getting the MDA pro on T Mobile. I did phone them up today to enquire though after reading some of your messages and surely enough they dont have stock!!

They did have the M2000 come in on saturday and they think they possibly got confused!?!? go figure!

Yep, from my experience retentions/upgrades at Orange have to check a couple of systems, one which confirms options/pricing with regards upgrades, the other which actually confirms whether they have stock. I was once offered an SPV M1000 as free upgrade but on calling back 5minutes later I was told that although the rep in question had noted my interest and the offer, she hadn't checked the stock screen and there was none to be had! I'm guessing the M5000 is on the pricing system but not showing in stock yet.

It was discontinued shortly after and lack of stock of the M2000 (and a lack of signal at home) meant I left Orange for T-Mobile and their version the MDA III. I've been very happy since (although Orange does have the edge in things like allowing minutes to roll over each month and not being tied into a certain tariff as long).

Well i just thought i'd give it a go, and they just said the standard October release and you can't pre-order it!!  ;)

I just called to check with Orange as I might transfer to 02 as they are just cheaper AND i could have the unit then if i wanted.

The very unhelpfull northen lady on the phone I spoke to said that there wasn't a date or a price for the unit and her "colleage" got it wrong. She was very rude about her!

tisk tisk OCS!
