Guest iceman40
Hi guys. I just got my upgrade last week a nice C550. My C500 had served me well and now my friend has it, I wish I did. I’m not new to windows or smart phones but this is driving me nuts. Anybody had this problem when trying to app unlock? I registered my IMEI with the Orange database using the link and app below http://developer.orangews.com/orgspv/downl...ter.ARM.cab.exe Then, at my PC I visited the link below http://developer.orangews.com/orgspv/comdef.aspx Sure enough, through came the screen I wanted Then, I tried to sort my screen-res out and, I got a big fat nothing. “Error, unable to perform this operation” Then I tried from my C550, a big fat nothing. “Error, unable to perform this operation” Have sent a mail to orange for the Security Certificate Disabling Tool Sent it on Friday, not heard back. Anybody got any clues ? Regards Shaun
Guest gpcarreon (MVP)
You can try the app-unlock techniques on this thread: http://www.modaco.com/INFO_Decert_SIM_Unlo...50-t222786.html Once you have PHM Registry Editor launched on your phone, it will be easy to modify the 2 registry keys and eventually app-unlock your device. ;)

Guest gpcarreon (MVP)
Don’t think I explained myself enough ;) Trying to app unlock not sim unlock <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Hi, I pointed you to a thread which tackles 2 topics: C550 decert and network unlocking. I just had a hard reset the other night (which re-activates application lock) and I followed the instructions on the thread I gave you to app-unlock (decertify) my C550. Now I have an app-unlocked C550. Haven't used any tool from Orange etc. Excerpts from the thread (decert part): To decert (application unlock) the C550, simply change these keys using the attached registry editor (it's the freeware PHM editor signed by HTC): HKLM\Security\Policies\Policies\00001001 = 1 (RAPI) HKLM\Security\Policies\Policies\00001005 = 40 (Cert) :D

Device unlocked i went back to look at the value of the of HKLM\Security\Policies\Policies\00001005 its back on 16 ? change it to 40 like you suggest it makes no diferance, when i try to change the screen res of LogicalPixelsX and Y and get this “Error, unable to perform this operation” if its locked then how can i change the policies keys ? not sure whats going on going for coffee and smoke thanks fot the help interested in what you say next :D Regards shaun Edited October 23, 2005 by iceman40
Guest gpcarreon (MVP)
Hi, Why modify the LogicalPixels? I thought you were after application unlocking? Since we are already into that topic... HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers is a protected registry section that is why you encountered the 'Unable to perform this operation' error. What I do in cases wherein I want to access protected reg section is to fully unlock the registry first using the SDA Unlocker: http://www.gpcarreon.com/?p=151 I hope that helps. The apps I am having problems with are SP Task Manager And Smart Explorer (with bluetooth support) The menus look ok but the little graphical screens are squashed so it looks a bit crap. Do you have you any suggestions on adjusting the screen resolution? I tried the one below and everything looked crap :D HKLM\Drivers\Display\GPE\LogicalPixelsX (Change from 131 - 176) HKLM\Drivers\Display\GPE\LogicalPixelsY (Change from 131 - 220) Off to bed soon Regards Shaun Edited October 23, 2005 by iceman40
