Guest kam_ Posted November 12, 2005 Report Posted November 12, 2005 The problemn is with Microsoft who have withdrawn Active Sync 4 as there is a problem with it....!!!!!! Yup its a problem with activesync 4. Its why it hasn't been released publicly. From the people i spoke to it was rushed out because of all these new devices being released. There is a real problem with how it figures out the 'connections' your computer can use to sync with a device. Even after a socket is created a race condition can occur. Microsoft's support blame antivirus and firewall software which often intercepts connections, but in reality turning off or uninstalling your firewall might change the way the connections are handled enough for it to work. Its pop luck as they won't even comment on the real problem and wether it can be recreated by them. Post in the WM5 MSDN blog and maybe u can get an answer out of them!

Post in the WM5 MSDN blog and maybe u can get an answer out of them! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Activesync 4.0 has left behind some artifacts that have had a serious impact on my PC. For a long time I was unable to sync anything (Jam, C500, Palm Tungsten, Nokia 6810) with Outlook. All of these devices used to sync perfectly before I installed AS4.0. I was finally able to resolve the issues in the end by removing AS4.0, Palm Desktop/Pocket Mirror/DocumentsToGo, and Nokia phone suite, and getting my IT dept to uninstall and rebuild Outlook (they were not amused I can tell you). I can now sync all my devices again but I think Microsoft should be ashamed of themselves for releasing this software. It doesn't even seem to do anything more than the earlier version! I'll probably go back to the SP5/SP5m again at some point in the future, but not until I can see AS4.X available for general download from Microsoft. Then again, maybe I'll try a Symbian phone next time. I've never had that much confidence in MS quality of delivery and this recent episode has destroyed all the equity the C500 managed to build up in 12 months. Edited November 14, 2005 by xerxes
Guest sveintore Posted February 24, 2006 Report Posted February 24, 2006 scanpst.exe seems to have helped me. (It scans your personal folders (mail, contacts, calendar) for errors). (it's in your office-folder, do a search) It even works on .nst (for those who uses notes connector) Very late reply to this thread, but thought it would be good to have a possible solution here :)
