Guest gts Posted April 26, 2006 Report Posted April 26, 2006 (edited) I went to the local service centre and they updated the ROM with something really strange. When I power on the device - it shows some red text on the display. I have attached a photo of the power-on screen. The verson changes: Qtek 8310 Settings --> about: was: Microsoft Windows Mobile Version 5.0 now: Microsoft Windows Mobile Version 5.0 was: OS 5.1.70 (Build 14406.1.1.1) now: OS 5.1.195 (Build 14847.2.0.0) was: Radio Version 4.0.13.17_01.04.00 now: Radio Version 4.0.13.24_01.13.00 was: RIL Version 2.002 now: RIL Version 2.002 Total Storage: 17.94 MB Total Memory: 45.05 MB Processor: OMAP850 195MHz ROM update versions: now all of the following are 5.1.195.14847 Operator: 5.1.70.14406 Manufacturer: 5.1.70.14406 Microsoft: 5.1.70.14406 Language: 5.1.70.14406 File System: 5.1.70.14406 Settings --> System Information CPU : TI OMAP850 Speed : 195MHz RAM : 64MB FLASH : 64MB was: ROM version : 1.0.7.0 now: ROM version : 2.0.0.0 was: OPERATOR version : 1.5.321.2 now: OPERATOR version : 2.5.321.1 LCD : 240x320 TFT Color : 65536 Model Name : Qtek 8310 was: Radio Version : 4.0.13.17_01.04.00 now: Radio Version : 4.0.13.24_01.13.00 was: Service Pack: N/A now: this line is missing now! ;) If somebody has upgraded to the latest official Qtek ROM (from the site) then it would be very nice if you could post the version numbers. I want to know if the software they gave to me is newer or older than the official one. Edited April 26, 2006 by gts
Guest gts Posted April 28, 2006 Report Posted April 28, 2006 I've updated my device again. Now the version numbers are as follows: about: OS 5.1.195 (Build 14847.2.0.0) Radio Version 413.1.04_02.09.00 RIL Version 2.002 ROM update versions: 5.1.195.14847 System information: ROM version: 2.0.9.0 OPERATOR version: 2.5.321.2 Radio Version: 413.1.04_02.09.00 P.S. I installed the latest Nordic ROM that arrived (as I noticed) today 2006/04/28.

Guest flodis79 Posted May 4, 2006 Report Posted May 4, 2006 What I've noticed of improvements so far: - Newer, better and more extensive Connections Menu - A bit faster overall in menus, though not much - EDGE icon is now shown correctly without one having to hack the registry - No "auto log off" for the internet when you press "hang up" button - Microsoft Messaging and Security Feature Pack (gives you push email, Exchange 2003 kommunikation and more...) - Better radio/antenna coverage and correct information shown - Better BlueTooth support (now supports the A2DP profil) There's propably some more stuff, but the main thing I was annoyed about is still an issue; with homescreens, you simply cannot choose anything but the "Standard" one for that specific homescreen, without the phone padding the picture down. I didn't get the microsoft messaging and security feat pack included when I downloaded the new ROM.. However it's not the Nordic ROM but the Europe one.. Was it build into the same file when you downloaded it? So you're having EDGE on the Danish networks? Here in Ireland, we don't have that support - yet..
Guest jakobdam Posted May 4, 2006 Report Posted May 4, 2006 Yeah, the MS messaging & security feature pack part of the ROM, I don't expect that there's a separate installation to get these features, as they appear to be tightly integrated with existing features... Yes, we have EDGE - it's wonderfull, and it's fast! The ping time still sucks big time, but once you've started downloading a page/picture/file/whatever you can definitely feel the difference. The new ROM is drawing the picture faster than the old one - also scrolling is a bit faster. I've noticed that frames are now working somehow - but I can't remember if it has always done that with the Windows Mobile 5.0... I just found out yesterday evening when accessing a page that I found out was built on frame sets. Oh sure, it works like hell - very confusing - but in some respect, it actually does work. Anything is better than the "you cannot display frames" message. ;)

Guest jakobdam Posted May 8, 2006 Report Posted May 8, 2006 (edited) Yes, indeed you can - but beware that your warranty will be invalid, as the Brightpoint ROM I've used is not supported by Dangaard Telecom, which is the danish importer of QTek. You just need to follow the guide that's placed in this forum somewhere... it tells you how to create a super CID on your phone, which will allow you to install all ROM types. ;) I will write a danish version of the method later on, on my webpage www.vildmedmobil.dk - but I haven't got the time at the moment. :P EDIT: Guide finished: http://www.vildmedmobil.dk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1145 Edited May 8, 2006 by jakobdam

Guest Chris b.a.r.f. Posted May 12, 2006 Report Posted May 12, 2006 (edited) Hey Jakob! Do you know if I can flash my Qtek 8310 bought from TDC without any modifikations, with the rom you flashed yours with?? And is it still ind danish? Thx in advance! Try and register at www.qtek.dk with your IMEI # - if you can, then your 8310 is distributed by Dangaard and the ROM update should work fine; if you get a message that the IMEI is invalid then it could be that TDC get their 8310s via Brightpoint - if so, you can register at www.qtek.nu and download the correct ROM from there. The update available on smartmobil.no/qtek.dk defaults to English, and includes danish, finnish, swedish, slovak, norwegian, hungarian, dutch and french. -- Chris : ) Edited May 12, 2006 by Chris b.a.r.f.

Guest RickP in AZ Posted May 19, 2006 Report Posted May 19, 2006 Using the ROM update that jakobdam recommended: Qtek 8310 (in USA, purchased from Mad Monkey Boy. Note that I didn't have to change the CID) Settings>About OS: 5.1.195 (Build 1487.2.0.0) Radio: 413.1.04_02.09.00 RIL: 2.002 Settings>System Information ROM: 2.0.9.0 Operator: 2.5.312.1 Radio: 413.1.04_02.09.00 I'll admit to being quite nervous during the updating of the ROM as my wife would have been really mad if I had "bricked" my 2 week old phone, but it all went smooth as glass. From i.expansys.com I found a ROM Update Uitility for the 8310 which is "World Wide English" and had the same ROM number as my previous ROM. I wonder if this could be used to "downgrade" the ROM if needed? (I won't as I am very happy with the improvements in the new 2.0.9.0 ROM.) That's all from the n00b.

I try registering with Qtek's web site many times and direct me to teleservice.com. Some site that looks like they only do repairs in Austria, Czech Republic, Denmark, Germany, Greece, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland, Turkey. My phone's came with these languages build though: Nederlands, Portugues (Portugal), Italiano, Espanol, Turkce, Cestina, Deutsch, Greek, US English and Francais Since i cannot log in to an official Qtek site i need your help people. I need to know what ROM file you people use and what languages were preinstalled in that ROM. I like to upgrade the ROM in my phone but i don't want to loose any languanges that the phone came with. I really need the Greek and the english. I red somewhere that i need to get a ROM with the WWE extention. I downloaded this one " 8310-wwe-1070_153126_010400" but i don't know that languages are there. Then i downloaded this one : 200624819AKU2_8310_2090_253221_020900_Ship I guess i will start trying the different ROM's after i back up my phone this weekend. Thanks for all the help that people provide here. Dimitris
