Hello, im sorry to ask if this is a simple question but i have searched and tried many times to change my home page to something other than imate.

Is this possible, if it is, please let me know.

The easiest way is via Settings/Home Screen and choose one of the other default home screens or if you don't like any of those just open up a picture you've saved into your phone choose menu then select Use as Home Screen option 3

Are you referring to the Homescreen or the home page in Pocket Internet Explorer?

Im sorry I didnt make it clear :oops: I actually meant in pocket internet explorer.

So little Johnny was not impressed with the following two little niggles

a) The Explorer key on his SP5m always sent him to http://www.imate.com (Using up COSTLY Bandwidth)

:D GPRS would always disconnect after a while (He wanted it always on)

So what to do..

Firstly he unlocked his phone as previously mentioned he then went to http://www.ghisler.com/smartphone.htm to get a hold of Total Commander for Smartphone

After installing ToTal Commander he

1) Started TC

2) Pressed >>File>>More>>Find Files

3) In “Search” for he put “Short*.lnk” [* can be found after LONG press of the “*” key select Symbols]

4) In “Containing Text” he typed “imate”

5) After a short time TC found a file called “Short_AP1.lnk”

6) He then selected >>File>>Edit

7) In the file, he replaced “23#\Windows\iexplore.exe http://www.imate.com” with “23#\Windows\iexplore.exe”

8) He then Selected “File>>Close”

Done

Just a Quick SOFT RESET and no more spending money for no good reason

To Keep GPRS Active

He simply added the following key “SuspendResume”

To

\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\ConnMgr\Planner\Settings

Making sure that the Value was set to “~GPRS!”

Quick Reset and Bobs your mothers brother !!!

many thanks for the reply, although i gave it a try and im get an error message. My phone is unlocked but when i try to close the modified file i get the following

Error, could not create file!

Any ideas, have you managed to get this working for yourself? any help would be greatly appreciated.

Copy Short_AP1.lnk onto the PC and edit it there.

Then put this into a zip file and copy the zip file back into \Windows on the SP5m.

Use File Manager on the SP5m to extract this into the \Windows directory (Extract to "Current Folder", select "Overwrite existing files" and de-select "Extract to subfolder ... "

You should then find it overwrites the existing Short_AP1 without any problem.
