Guest afhstingray Posted November 13, 2005 Report Posted November 13, 2005 I like carling, its quite refreshing! Budwiser is ok, but im not sure what all the fuss is about, it tastes watery :| Foster's is good too...
Guest ajb3000 Posted November 13, 2005 Report Posted November 13, 2005 My favourite beer of all time would be a local beer called Sarajevska, but you can only get it in Bosnia ;). For international beers it would be Carlsburg.
Guest afhstingray Posted November 13, 2005 Report Posted November 13, 2005 speaking of international beers, i was in sri lanka helping out with the tsunami relief, and there are 2 popular beers there, lion beer, and three coins beer. apparently they are brewed in a really really old brewery that was set up by the british :S but they are AWESOME!!! and at 20p a bottle (700ml !!!) you cant get better value than that. they taste as good as a bud, but without the wateryness!!! singapore's tiger beer (the original one thats brewed in asia pacific breweries brewery) is pretty good too, but a bit bitter
Guest Pondrew Posted November 13, 2005 Report Posted November 13, 2005 I'd recommend the Czech beer Staropramen is you can get it...
Guest afhstingray Posted November 13, 2005 Report Posted November 13, 2005 has anyone been to a wetherspoons recently? the autumn beer festival is going on now....very good value for money, and they have a nice selection!
Guest James Posted November 13, 2005 Report Posted November 13, 2005 oh! will have to check that out ! :-D
Guest Disco Stu Posted November 13, 2005 Report Posted November 13, 2005 Guinness, but if it has to be lager then Red Stripe.
Guest Pondrew Posted November 13, 2005 Report Posted November 13, 2005 Guinness, but if it has to be lager then Red Stripe. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Ah, didn't think I could include the blackstuff. My drink of choice too. Hehe, incidentally I bet Beersoft is the next to post ;)
Guest Jamma14 Posted November 13, 2005 Report Posted November 13, 2005 I'm a stella man myself. Beat Beery to it ;)
Guest Pondrew Posted November 13, 2005 Report Posted November 13, 2005 hehe. Either Beerie has turned over a new leaf and doesn't actually drink beer anymore or he's listing all his favourite beers and it's taking a while ;)
Guest afhstingray Posted November 13, 2005 Report Posted November 13, 2005 am i the only one who thinks bud tastes watery? :??:
Guest PeteT Posted November 13, 2005 Report Posted November 13, 2005 I would have to say stella, but not the crap we get in the uk, but the french stuff. It tastes so much better.
Guest mutleyboy Posted November 13, 2005 Report Posted November 13, 2005 Red Stripe all the way, its funny but until i introduced the rest of my family to its wonders they had never even heard of red stripe
Guest afhstingray Posted November 13, 2005 Report Posted November 13, 2005 yea i havent heard of red stripe either....is it a lager?
Guest Disco Stu Posted November 13, 2005 Report Posted November 13, 2005 Red Stripe is a strong(ish) lager originally brewed in Jamaica but now comes from Interbrew in Northampton like everything else we're listing here  It does get sold in pubs and some supermarkets but, as a trendy beer, it has had its day ;) And yes, unless Bud is served at the required super-chilled temperature it tastes dreadful. Not that it tastes of much when it is served correctly, like most American beers.
Guest mupwangle Posted November 13, 2005 Report Posted November 13, 2005 I'm currently drinking San Miguel. Normally Carling when I'm out.
Guest beersoft Posted November 13, 2005 Report Posted November 13, 2005 sorry, i was making a list my beers of choice are stella oranjiboom (or however you spell it) Hacker-Pschorr that frenchbeer (burg or something) becks or anything but budwater later Owen
Guest furby Posted November 13, 2005 Report Posted November 13, 2005 (edited) oranjeboom <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Great choice ^ I like a good Staropramen aswell Edited November 13, 2005 by Furbyâ„¢
Guest afhstingray Posted November 13, 2005 Report Posted November 13, 2005 what do you guys think of the japanese beers? the ones which are brewed in japan, not of european brewery origin!
Guest Chiz Posted November 14, 2005 Report Posted November 14, 2005 (edited) Stella - 99.9999% of the time. Hoegaarden or Leffe or Staropramen...if I fancy a change Never drink Bud. It's gotta be the worst. Sweet and watery. Chiz Edited November 14, 2005 by Chiz
Guest James Posted November 14, 2005 Report Posted November 14, 2005 Carlsburg EC or Kronenbourg cru stay well clear of stella!
Guest ricardo the fish Posted November 15, 2005 Report Posted November 15, 2005 so many beers so little time!! lets see... Estrella Galicia - can't seem to find this in the UK any more  but It's my beer of choice when in Spain. Bombadier - a great british ale, even the bottle from the supermarket are full pints!! Boddingtons -no longer the cream of Manchester since Interbrew decided to make it elsewhere  well thats my top three usually end up drinking generic largers Fosters, carlsberg etc.. Oh and I find Bud (as with all US Beer) a bit like making love in a canoe - F***ing close to water!! also can't stand wife beater (stella)
Guest Matt Kirby Posted November 15, 2005 Report Posted November 15, 2005 (edited) Well, Stella = Monster hangovers, I avoid like the plague (anyone else have this?). Too many chemicals I think, prob. why it's got the "wifebeater" tag. Guiness if I'm not in a lager mood, Staropramen if they do it, then Grolsch, Becks, Kroenbourg. If I'm somewhere whose only "premium" lager is Stella then I'll move onto cooking-lager, pref. Carlsberg, but after that probably anything! I do love the odd pint of Hoegarden or Leffe, but I can't afford to get pi$$ed on them! Just remembered - there is a bar opposite where I used to work that did Asahi (if I've spelt that correctly! Japanesse lager) on tap, very nice stuff. Edited November 15, 2005 by Matt Kirby
Guest afhstingray Posted November 16, 2005 Report Posted November 16, 2005 i wonder if hoegarden has a less of a hangover effect because its supposedly organic and possible contains less chemicals
