M5000: How to keep screen on?

How do you prevent the screen light switching off a few seconds into a phone call, or whilst waiting (!!!) for a web page to load? O.k. you can tap the screen, but then you run the risk of hitting a button or HTML link by accident - because you can't see them!

I have all the battery/power options set to keep the screen "on", but they seem to have no effect.

I don't know how to make it stay on (I wouldn't want to as it'd kill the battery) but you can turn it back on using the Backlight button (with a bulb on it) on the edge of the phone. Alternatively I often use the cursor keys.

The back light kept switching off for me too and I did'nt want to keep touching the phone to keep the screen on (using mobipocket reader at the time).

I hadn't noticed that in the Advanced setttings in Power, the device was set to: "On Battery Power: turn off device if not used for 3 minutes"

It might be something you've checked already but it's something I'd missed on "first glance"

No - tried all that. I've even set my phone to have the backlight on all the time on both external power and battery, but it still switches off after about 10 seconds after the last touch.
