Guest rsearley Posted December 5, 2005 Report Posted December 5, 2005 1000 emails a day?... on your phone?.. and you're calling me mad? :) ah well your choice, I'd go for a small laptop with Wifi for that.. As for Wifi... I know what it is. And I would love it to be on the C600... but you can't have your cake and eat it too... everytime... :D Orange... missed chance...! oops bought it already, only on account of the service I get from the local selling point. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I have a small laptop with wifi, infact i have 2, but when i go out i dont like to take bulky items with me, i have an imate pda2k, whick is too big in my opinion. i dont reply to all the 1000+ emails, but having the wifi in the sp5 allows me to atleast check to see if there is anything urgent, maybe give yes/no responses where needed, and to delete any of the un-needed emails leaving the rest for when i have pc access. even when at home, i try not to turn on the mac during the evening if i can help it, but i still need to be sure there is nothing urgent waiting in my inbox, and the sp5 is ideal for that to be honest just a dozen or so emails a day via gprs builds up quite a large data bill..
Guest vwilsonuk Posted December 8, 2005 Report Posted December 8, 2005 So - has anyone spoken to anybody at Orange since this appeared on the site? Shop or customer services? The woman at customer services before suggested that once the phone was on the website they'd probably have a date for when it would be available.
Guest iflya Posted December 8, 2005 Report Posted December 8, 2005 Orange say it is still under review ... (as of yesterday evening) but they are going to call me backin two weeks (probably to say the same thing). I would love to have WiFi as dont have an internet connection at home, but GF's house has WiFi, and that would allow me to stay in touch without using the work PC's!!! Orange made a BIG mistake not having the Reimma variant as the C600. the SPV M**** have WiFi, but are all too poncy if you just want something to slide in your pocket and stay connected. As for Customer Service ... The Bright Orange Light is starting to dim . . . E : )

I would have got a C600 6 weeks ago but my eyes are on other things now and since their arrival dates are only a few months off I think i will wait.

Guest asaxby Posted December 9, 2005 Report Posted December 9, 2005 Just rang orange customer services and they said it has been launched, but they have not stock and to ring an orange shop. The shop said they have no launch date. So which is it I wish orange would get it's act together.

Guest kam_ Posted December 9, 2005 Report Posted December 9, 2005 A shop... in Holland.. sorry.. Dunno bout the distance for BT, but it is supposed to be class 2 BT with a range of 50m... I expect it to be 10 m in ideal circumstances. [ hmm I thought class 1 was a 100 m range and class 2 was the 10 m range?] <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Class 1 has a maximum output power of 100mW (20dB/m). Class 1 supports an unobstructed line-of-site range up to 100 meters. Class 2 has a maximum output power of 2.5mW (4dB/m). Class 2 supports up to a 10 meter range. Class 3 has a maximum output power of 1mW (0dB/m) with a very limited range As a comparison, WiFi (802.11b) has a transmit power of 20dB/m. However it has a different spectral mask and so the receiver is more sensative to frequencies across that mask. This ultimately means its more tolerant to reflections and interferance, and so works slightly better through walls etc.
Guest penguin Posted December 9, 2005 Report Posted December 9, 2005 just got off the phone to Orange UK & the guy said they still don't have a date "hopefully soon" he said

Guest Leaskovski Posted December 10, 2005 Report Posted December 10, 2005 Well i went into my local orange shop and the guy said he has seen the phone but it isnt getting released until after christmas. Sometime in the new year he thought. :)
Guest rctempire Posted December 11, 2005 Report Posted December 11, 2005 Phoned Orange today 11-12-05, basically told that they dont know when its going to be released. Wish Orange would get their act together as ive been told these stories: October - Yes being released Late October - No, November release November - No, Late November Late November - Technical Problems with Phone, Release December December - Release this month, but very unsure Today 11-12-05 - Possible after Christmas Release. Im getting very annoyed with orange recently due to all sorts of problems.
Guest tonyz Posted December 11, 2005 Report Posted December 11, 2005 I understand that the C600 doesnt come with wifi..is this due to being software locked or simply not having the hardware module in there?
Guest Leaskovski Posted December 11, 2005 Report Posted December 11, 2005 No physical hardware from what people have been saying.
Guest generationgav Posted December 11, 2005 Report Posted December 11, 2005 I was stuck between the M500 and the C600 But now I'm seriously thinking that I'll buy the MDA Compact on T-Mobile Thanks to Orange Customer Services of course.
