Guest Detslider Posted January 19, 2006 Report Posted January 19, 2006 (edited) First as a first time poster let me thank the forum for providing some very useful info. I bought "new" SMT5600 off of EBAY, the seller advertised it as being locked to the AT&T network, the phone arrived and upon inserting my Cingular SIM card it asked for an unlock code. Having not yet discovered this site I called Cingular (knowing they now were affiliated with AT&T) and asked if they could provide the code. I was told that they did not have it but would contact AT&T and get back to me within 5 days. Today I recieve an e-mail with the following text: After two attempts, please call us back at 1800xxxxxx, or (209)381-xxxx from overseas. More than 2 incorrect attempts will permanently lock your wireless phone; and it will need replacement. 1. Remove SIM card. 2. Power-up the unit. 3. Press the left Arrow (<) button. 4. Press the star (*) button twice. 5. Press the left Arrow (<) button again. 6. Display will indicate "ME Lock". 7. Wait approx. 3 seconds. 8. Display will indicate "Network" and a picture of a closed lock. 9. Press Yes. 10. Display will indicate "Unlock". 11. Press Yes. 12. Display will indicate "Enter NCK". Enter SIM Unlock code 05405764 13. Press Yes. 14. Unit will display "Network" and a picture of an open lock for 3 seconds and will then revert to the default display "Insert Card". 15. Unit is Unlocked well i made a few attempts using the provided sequence without luck, it now says I have tried 4 times "please wait for retry". It will wait approx 1 minute then allow me the chance to input the code again. My question is- Does anyone know anything more about how 2 incorrect attempts will permanently lock the phone? Guest Bruto51 Posted January 26, 2006 Report Posted January 26, 2006 Don't know about the 2 attempt thing but was wondering if you had managed to unlock your 5600? I found a unlock method that I just tried on a 5600 that I bought off eBay. Worked for me. Only thing is you will need a SIM from the carrier that your 5600 is locked to. Luckily a co-worker uses Cingular. PM me. Props to this site and others that have helped me with ALOT of info. =D>
Guest Detslider Posted January 28, 2006 Report Posted January 28, 2006 yeah I could do the unlock methods listed here but I don't have an AT&T sim, what are the chances the AT&T store would let me borrow one for about 5min so I can run the unlock program?
