Guest [email protected] Posted January 20, 2006 Report Posted January 20, 2006 hi all I was looking for a petrol station on my way home last week and tomtom directed me to someones house, bizzare but i thought no more of it. anyways i was just looking at my tomtom "browse map" of my locale area (ok i was bored) and noticed all my POI's are in the wrong place. It seems they have all moved east by a couple of hundred meters, quite strange. anyways being a good boy i always have a back up, so i copied the POI.dat from the original TOMTOM card over my phone yet the problem still remained. Now i just tried deleting tomtom from the phone and reinstalling from the orignal and its still wrong. Is it possible that there is data in the phone for tomtom after i deleted it? if so how can i remove it. this is perplexing me, and i really don't fancy hard reseting my phone to clear it as i have alot of usefull stuff i would have to reinstall. any ideas?
Guest [email protected] Posted January 22, 2006 Report Posted January 22, 2006 I have contacted tomtom and they are going to post me another memory card for £5. i still think the problem lies with the phone but will have to wait for the card to show up.
Guest Miniman99 Posted January 24, 2006 Report Posted January 24, 2006 A friend had this (TomTom reading 100m to one site), he found that it was the GPS reciever that was mis-calibrated. It was a third party unit and it had to be factory reset. His came with a small application to do that. All ok after he reset it.
Guest minty1978 Posted January 24, 2006 Report Posted January 24, 2006 try taking the battery out of the GPS unit for 30 mins. that should reset it. you will probably need to re-pair the BT unit. S

S <{POST_SNAPBACK}> thank you for the suggestions but i have the original TOMTOM gps reciever and cannot remove the battery. I have also noticed that the POI's are in the wrong place if i have the GPS turned off and just browse the map in tomtom. and after a bit more fiddling about i found that it is only the petrol stations that are wrong, everything else is fine ;) this is most annoying as petrol stations are the only POI i use frequently
Guest [email protected] Posted January 27, 2006 Report Posted January 27, 2006 well i got my replacement card from TOMTOM today but it did not fix the problem :D but on the plaus side it appears to be a newer map version :) gonna try hard resetting my phone and reinstalling everything and see if that fixes it.
