Guest Gavink151 Posted February 16, 2006 Report Posted February 16, 2006 hi all, just got my m5000 today but in the manual it does not mention initial battery charge times... any idea how long it should be? I started charging it but I will either have to stop in 11 hrs time or leave it for 24 hrs! cheers!
Guest ajb3000 Posted February 16, 2006 Report Posted February 16, 2006 It is questionable as to whether a long initial charge is actually beneficial or not. Overcharging however could potentially cause damage, so I'd take it off after 11 hours.
Guest MECX Posted February 19, 2006 Report Posted February 19, 2006 Bit of a myth really, the control circuitry wont let the battery become 'over-charged', Li-ion batterys like to be kept topped up so if you can get away with it keep your device plugged in whenever possible, I would say 11hours is enough tho, 24hours wouldnt do it any harm.
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted February 22, 2006 Report Posted February 22, 2006 Apparently if a LiIon battery overcharges it will burst into flames! However as mentioned above the batteries are designed to not let this happen, a long initial charge is just to ensure all cells are fully charged to give you the maximum possible performance...
