Guest fraggle_rox Posted November 11, 2006 Report Posted November 11, 2006 Hi, About a year ago I unlocked my C500, no problems - despite not being too computer literate, but it cost me £20 for the pleasure. I can't find the link to that site now, and besides I would kinda like to avoid loosing £20. :) I've tried it on 98 and ME. Is there a specific version of Windows it likes? or is there a way around the error messages? Cheers Fraggle
Guest awarner (MVP) Posted November 11, 2006 Report Posted November 11, 2006 You need to run the reg editor on the phone and not the PC.
Guest fraggle_rox Posted November 11, 2006 Report Posted November 11, 2006 You need to run the reg editor on the phone and not the PC. Told you I was not good with technology!!!! But thank you very much... IT WORKED!!!!!! How happy am I? :) :D :P Just goes to show... if I can do it... anyone can!!
Guest rangemaster1 Posted November 12, 2006 Report Posted November 12, 2006 am i missing some think here ? your phone needs to be decert before you can run & use the reg editer.

This means any application not in posession of a Microsaft certificate will not install on an 'locked' device. Hence, they generally need unlocking (or decertifying).
Guest Chuckles Posted March 3, 2007 Report Posted March 3, 2007 Great little guide, thanks! I needed to unlock my old orange C500 after ive destroyed by screen on my MDA Pro, so needed a phone until i get the insurance sorted. One note however, the link in the guide to the Spv Services Application is out of date, the page has been turned into one of them annoying search pages, so i just googled it and found it easy enough, Thanks Again ;) , Kenny
Guest tgn Posted March 7, 2007 Report Posted March 7, 2007 OMG that was too easy. Fantastic tools. thank you so much.

Guest funnyfulla Posted June 29, 2009 Report Posted June 29, 2009 Hey, am trying to unlock one of these SPV C550 phones using teh advice everyone has been posting here but I cant figure out how to unzip the regeditor file on the phone, tried loading winzip onto the phone but that wouldnt work! anyone advise?
Guest awarner (MVP) Posted July 28, 2009 Report Posted July 28, 2009 There are zip applications for the phone available but it is easier to unzip on your pc and transfer the files over.
Guest Zampone Posted September 23, 2009 Report Posted September 23, 2009 (edited) I need a backup phone and tried to unlock my C500 with this software. I just get a screen saying "Action cancelled". Is the software no longer functional? Edited September 23, 2009 by Zampone
Guest Zampone Posted October 4, 2009 Report Posted October 4, 2009 Okay, It worked. I tried it again and it worked perfectly (with both firewalls on) I can only assume the site was down the first few times I tried it. I am now happily using my unlocked SPV C500 Once I get my new phone back I'll be interested in updating the firmware now.
