Guest Swampie
As a (soon to be) new owner of a MDA Vario, I've ordered TomTom Navigator 5 to use it with the phone in the car for sat nav. I've seen the Brodit mounts and noticed there are horizontal/landscape mounts and vertical ones. I was wondering though, whether TomTom supports landscape mode? I think I've heard it does - but I've no idea whether it's actually any use in that mode. For example, I'd heard that CoPilot supports it too, but that the screen layout is really designed for portrait orientation, and isn't very good when in landscape. Is this the case with TomTom? Also I was reading the spec for the Brodit horizontal mount and it seems that you have to have the keyboard open when mounted in a horizontal mount. I guess it makes sense as when the keyboard is open, it switches to landscape mode, but I wondered whether the mount was such that it doesn't fit in if the keyboard isn't open. I suspect this is the case, as when you look at all the pics of them, the mount wraps around the keyboard ever so slightly, meaning you couldn't slide the screen down when it's in the mount. Any thoughts? Thanks
Guest minty1978
you can rotate TTN5, even have it up side down if you desire!! as for the brodit mount, the one i have in theory would work on its side, all though wouldn't be as stable under heavy cornering... Any thoughts? Thanks <{POST_SNAPBACK}> tomtom 5 works fine rotated, although i find the portrait mode to be better while driving. I have the brodit mount (vertical) and it can be rotated sideways. I often have it horizontal while watching movies & driving (joke!) ...I dont think it will fall out when twisted horizontally, at least it hasnt so far :) nb. The brodit mounts are well worth the money. Don't bother with the cheapo suction cup window holders, spend the extra...IMHO

Guest RichardD
the quality does look great, but in my little hatchback, the clip looks rather huge in their pic, and that's before it has the actual Wizard holder bit too ! http://www.brodit.com/montering.jsp?anr=652934 (Renault Clio RHD) My other concern is about impact on the dashboard on removal. I'm aware it's better than a drill and screw fix option, but looking at picture four on the link below, the section under the vent, to the left of the indicator stalk looks stretched, probably following the above photoshoot !? http://www.brodit.com/montering.jsp?anr=652935 Does anyone have a photo they could share please of the Brodit Wizard passive holder installed ? What depth does it have when mounted on a Brodit Proclip ? - - - Brodit HTC Wizard (K-Jam / Vario / XDA Mini S) passive holder mounting solution: http://www.brodit.com/montering.jsp?anr=848650 (for anyone searching google / the forums) Edited February 22, 2006 by RichardD

Mine fits onto the air vent, i've taken it off and there is no damage. I found the higher the phone is mounted on the dash, the better... esp for satnav, as looking down for directions is a recipie for disaster. re the picture, i cant see any damage. Guest awarner [MVP]
I had to modify my vent mount to fit my car properly as the first one broke. Had it replaced for free though and sent Brodit a mail about the design flaw but never had a reply back.
