Guest jonatj
Just a quick question. When I hold the power switch down for 5 seconds it ask if I really want to turn off the device. When I power it back up it does a full reboot, showing firmware revisions, etc. And when you press the reset button on the side of the device it does the same thing. So when you apply a registry change and it says to do a soft reset, I shouldn't have to press the reset button, I can just "reboot" with the power button instead? Is there a difference? If that's the case, then I guess the reason for the reset button would be the same as for a desktop PC, if the device hangs then you can reset the device without the need to remove the battery. jonatj

Guest richard_hogg
The power off and soft reset are different... Slightly. The power off/power on actually does a complete power cycle of the device whereas the soft-reset is a reboot. Effect is usually the same though.
