Vodafone are planning a Line2 equivalent service (better in some ways in fact - SMS and data from Line2) but I'm not clear on whether it's business only

STOP!!!

I just got this Email back, in relation to a query I sent, asking what this 'add on' actually is...

This is their reply...

Hello xxxxxxx

Thanks for contacting me about the web 'n' walk option that you've seen available on My T-Mobile.

The web 'n' walk option isn't officially released until the 1st April. It was available on My T-Mobile in error when our web technicians were testing its functionality, prior to the April 1st release date.

Web 'n' walk option gives you an unlimited allowance to use each month (fair use policy of 40MB). The feature costs £7.50 (inclusive of VAT) per month. There is a run on rate of £1.00 per MB when the Unlimited allowance (fair use policy of 40MB) is exceeded.

If I can offer you any further help xxxxx, please feel free to contact me by email again.

Kind regards

Greg

Email team

Did you read that and think GREAT!

If so, go back and read the Fair Use limit...

Yup 40MB - as per the existing rate...

If this guy is telling the truth, that means the entire debates we have been having on here, and Mobiholics, just went out the window - there, watch it go... woosh...

NIGHTMARE...

I'm only pasting the Email I got back folks - don't shoot me as Messenger, if this is right!

good man!! i was seriously going to crossover and get a Vario and pay for CoPilot 6 so that it runs on WM5 solely because of the unlimited nature...

the only benefit i can see in your post is that you didnt blank out the second mention of your first name!! ;)

40Mb is a joke.

1Gb, even 500Mb could be considered unlimited maybe, but 40Mb? No way.

I've emailed the address from the press release asking for clarification.

Will post back when I get it

Assuming that there is a 40Mb cap then maybe if enough of us email them then they'll reconsider...

Comparing what your email says, and what the official press releas says, and what I've heard personally, I suspect the email is incorrect. The press release said: "By making the service unlimited and framing it as an add-on to Relax and Flext tariffs, web’n’walk becomes a core part of our product range."

This says to me, that there are two changes being made to Web'n'Walk - 1.) Making it unlimited, and 2.) Allowing it as an add-on to Relax and Flext tariffs.

If it was just 40MB, then there's no change to the current W'n'W packages - just the ability to add it to Flext/Relax contracts.

I've also personally heard from someone I believe to be more reliable than a CS rep (no offenses to CS reps!) who says it'll be unlimited/1GB cap.

Lets just wait and see what it says when it's on their website.

W H O O P S.

Well, at least now you now I definately just copied and pasted it (and managed to miss altering one occurence of my name).

Edited now - cheers for heads up mate.

This is SERIOUSLY worrying me, cos in the other thread on this Paul says this doesn't fit with UNLIMITED INTERNET... BUT...

In the Email it mentions Unlimited Internet still, but just emphasises the Fair Use limit, so it could still be described as Unlimited.

And as we ALL know there WILL be a fair use cap (but we thought it was gonne be 1GB), and the official press release NEGLECTS to talk about Fair Use Caps that we KNOW there will be, then it still means that my post could be absolutely correct.

Oh BUMMER - I PREY this Greg bloke is misinformed, but there is NOTHING in what he says, that DOES NOT still adhere/fit in with the official press release alas...

NIGHTMARE.

I don't believe they can charge for further usage when they say Unlimited - the cap is designed to stop people taking the P!ss and at 1Gb is reasonable - at 40 Mb it's not, I still believe Greg got it wrong.

There is NO ONE...

Let me repeat that.... NO ONE...

On here hoping you are right, more than me Paul...

You HAVE to be right - I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO looking forward to this.... oh man!!

Please be right...

But the info I got, like I said, curiously, none of it contradicts what the press release says, becuase the press release doesn't mention Caps....

That alone seems strange in a worrying way.... if they were introducing these massive new fair use allownaces, why not trumpet it...

shadamehr - you are WRONG!

I hope Paul is right more than you do ;)

See http://www.modaco.com/index.php?showtopic=238415 - it has officially been announced as unlimited so they can't charge after 40 Mb - methinks Greg doesn't really know what he's talking about...

I certainly hope that's the case.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Confucious... But the Press Release makes NO MENTION of any Fair Use Caps...

Yet we already KNOW they will exist...

So what does that say???

If the PR talks of Unlimited, and you say it cant be if it has a 40MB cap, how can it be Unlimited with a 1GB cap..?

Yet we KNOW its gonna have a cap... so if it can be unlimted and have a 1gb cap, the pr can talk of unlimited, even if it has a 40MB cap...

Oh I hope that Greg bloke is wrong!

But I hope that GREG bloke is *lol*

Bet I hope PAUL is right MUCH more than you!!!

They could legitimately claim that "unlimited" is not meant to be taken literally, and that it just means "effectively unlimited" because how many of us would ever get near 1Gb? A 40Mb cap is very different - most (maybe ALL) of us could comfortable use that much and more in a month.

Also don't the Fair Use policies normally say something to the effect that "if you repeatedly exceed it we'll warn you, if you continue to exceed it we'll withdraw it". So it's not a ceiling so much as a warning level.

But what do I know.

Anyone else noticed that the abbreviation of Fair Use would be "FU"?

A 40Mb cap would definately fall into the "FU" category in my book ;)

I was just looking on the T-mobile Self Service website, and under my additional allowances and services for one of my phones that isn't on web'n'walk I had the option to add a web'n'walk option for £6.38 ex vat per month. That's £7.50 including vat.

What tariff is that on? Is there anyone not on any of Web'n'Walk, Flext or Relax who has seen that option?

Yes I know that officially its just flext/relax/new w'n'w. I wondered if anyone had any personal experience of adding the bundle on other tariffs since all sorts of odd things are being said by various people (many claiming some inside contacts) some of which don't make much sense to me...

For example if all internet bundles (which I assume is GPRS/data bundles) are being replaced by this unlimited tariff and it can only be used on flext/relax it would effectively prohibit anyone on any other tariff from using GPRS.

There's also the issue about laptop cards. If no bundle allows laptop use is T-mobile going to stop selling the things on April 1st?

Shurely shome mishtake...

What makes you think

all internet bundles (which I assume is GPRS/data bundles) are being replaced by this unlimited tariff

I would assume that the existing bundles will remain. Presumeably T will be working on changing them and the new rumoured "Pro" bundle will be for laptops/data cards.

This is just a step (allthough a very big one) on the road to Utopia. They are getting there but people shouldn't expect everything to be sorted from day one. It is a major breakthrough that is what lots of people have been asking for. They are listening to customers and I've no doubt other plans will be sorted, they just haven't got round to it yet.
