Guest Pondrew Posted April 9, 2006 Report Posted April 9, 2006 from memory the 2 newest Universal roms released are the i-mate jasjar rom and orange spv m5000. hopefully someone can fill you in on the strengths and weaknesses of them...
Guest mozzymda Posted April 9, 2006 Report Posted April 9, 2006 do any of these new roms have pocket msn pre installed in them? because my mda pro doesent have pocket msn pre installed which is the rom i need to download? help is apprichated
Guest Confucious Posted April 13, 2006 Report Posted April 13, 2006 The M5000 ROM wouldn't install on my Exec and I doubt if the imate one would either. There are ways round it but not without risk. Why not just junk the T-mob rubbish and install msn?
Guest shadamehr Posted April 13, 2006 Report Posted April 13, 2006 SPECULATION (that's all as I don't have that ROM on) is that the Orange ROM doesn't have MSN Messenger on certain devices. So try the i-mate or Qtek recently released updates for it. You will first need to either CID unlock the device to put a different ROM on, OR, use a patch tool that makes it MUCH easier, by simply allowing you to flash the other ROM direct. For this kind of technical info, a trip to XDA Developers might be warranted, and I don't think Paul would mind me advising that...?
Guest Confucious Posted April 14, 2006 Report Posted April 14, 2006 the M5000 ROM does have MSN AFAIK I believe it is only the M600 which doesn't (so far) - BUT the M5000 has far more complaints about dropped calls than any other Universal which people seem to put down to the radio version (1.03). The O2 Exec has radio ver 1.04 and I've had no problems with it and an updated ROM is due out when they release the IQ which was supposed to be last Monday but they postponed it by a week (not sure if they realise this monday is a bank holiday) - it might be worth waiting for that and doing a corporate install (which doesn't install their junk) or going for imates ROM which I believe has radio version 1.09. Either way you'll have to take Shademehr's advice as to where to go to find out how to do it. Good luck, let us know what you decide.
