Guys,

Can someone please help me with a constructive answer of what my position is (something which Orange customer service are unable of doing).

My phone has stopped recognising SD cards, I have been to an orange shop and they tried it with a new SD card and still no joy. The shop assistant confirmed the phone was not recognising the SD cards.

I DO HAVE Orange Care on my account.

I phone Orange and report the fault. They take EIGHT days (!) to come back to me and tell me that remote diagnostics have been inconclusive. They want me to send the phone for further diagnostics.

They will NOT confirm how long this takes but said they should complete the tests hopefully in about 7 days. I will be without my phone during this time.

I want a replacement, I have Orange Care, the woman at 150 said this was irrelevant as they need to confirm whether or not it is actually a fault with the phone.

This single incident is making me strongly consider leaving Orange after more than 5 years of happiness. I use my phone a lot, and to me, this is unacceptable.

Does anyone know what the T's & C's of O Care are, or better yet, give me some indication of what I could say to get them to authorise a replacement.

Thanks

Have to agree with everyone sentiments about Orange Care. Had phone nicked, didn't have insurance but for £30 and a 12 month contract at £3 per month got new phone in 2 days.

Get Orange Care - especially as the scumbag thieves seem to like this phone

Yeah but ORange Care can be bastards

I phoned them up and told them that I couldnt see the screen properly cause of the dust ( it is really bad ) there is massive gap between the screen and the casing.

I asked the guy to have it replaced and he told me that he was going to look at his colleagues phones. He came back saying that they didnt have this problem. So I said it must, therefore, be a fault with my phone and could he replace it.

He said he would get someone to call me back - he didnt.

So am I supposed to arrange an accident for my phone?

I suppose in a way they could class it as general wear and tear, I dont think they will cover that. But I think they should cover it as the screen is supposed to be sealed from the outside as there are adhesive rubbery-like pads on the case which press against the screen, and as the front cover is glued on aswell, it should be a pretty good seal.

O care i suppose are just trying to cut costs, like most insurance companies (especially car insurance), and Carphone are complete bast@rds i agree, I had the insurance with them to start, and they were trying to pull the same stunt on me so I took out O care and had no trouble, recieved a new SPV in 3 days which p1ssed all over carphones 14 day return policy.

Its just a joke getting!!

The main problem with O Care is that you have to convince them that you need a replacement in the first place, once you've done that they are very good. BUT, they do seem to have some muppet operators who fail to understand that some faults are quite plainly faults (like my SPV not recognising the SD card), and the operator tells me they need to do tests to see if it is really the phone or whether it could be an environmental issue (what like alien radio waves jamming the SD card or something!!?!)

Argh! Frustrated!

:)

Only go with Orange Care.

Dont waste your money on any 3rd party insurance.

As I got my SPV as an upgrafe, you GET 12 MONTHS ORANGE CARE FREE :) as part of your 12 month contract, as I was on a TalkPlan (not YourPlan).

Maybe I am missing the point, but if you get it for free, why then pay CPW, the Link etc for insurance when you may already have it!

Forget your Morals, Lie to them, tell them your phone won't switch on, or is stuck in headphone mode, they send out a replacement and who cares if when yours gets to the workshop they can't find the same fault!
