Vario rom updates

Hi Guys

had my vario for a few days and am not as pleased as i could be.

i had a motorola A1000 with three which did everything but no WIFI or keyboard.

This vario is good but runs so slow, i have hard reset it, removed all the programs from it and installed them to my storage card and make sure programs are not running n the background.

making calls is annoying if you have to wait for the machine to catch up.

Is there a better firmware out there that I as a T-mobile UK user can install?

can we use roms from other branded machines.

any help would be appreciated.

well my MDA vario is always responsive....

It is not recommended using uncertified ROM's for mobiles that it is not designed for even though it maybe the same "line" of products - there is no guarentee if it will work and even if it does - the warrenty would be void incase of any problems.

When did you purchase the MDA Vario? How old is it? What is the firmware on it?

you may need to reload the firmware.... try it and see what happens ;)

Rom version : 1.6.2.4 WWE

Rom Date : 11/5/05

Radio version : 4.0.13.23

ExtROM version 1.6.2.105

Is this the latest?

That is the latest

I suggest to download the ROM from the t-mobile ROM manager website (no idea about the URL...search for it here) and then reflash it

If you don't mind voiding the warranty - you could put an Imate rom in it. I noticed a serious improvement in performance as well better battery life. Or you could wait for the new T-Mobile one which should be due out quite soon.

how soon though?

i have doen a few reg haacks to improve performance today but battery life is abs useless.

Hi everyone,

I found this msdn blog where the owner says the aku2 rom for the Vario is out both in English and German and he gives the links to both, but the English one at least is still the old one. Has anyone heard anything about it?

I posted on this thread about an email reply I'd received from T-Mobile. They said that it had been delayed so that they could test it thoroughly and should be released mid June.

i give up. i have spent possibly 20 hrs on this forum and changining stuff and reloading, reflashing,this and that etc.. i need to get back to doing work .

I have summiters cingular rom with manually entered gprs settings, a few reg hacks, and no wifi.

I will leave it alone until something better comes along.

I really miss my A1000 symbian. Like apple it wins hands down but like apple the being better wont guarantee being the leader.

enough gripes, back to earning money.

no its not

Microsoft Windows Mobile is the leader of the smartphone market - smartphone was really made by MS :)
